About us
Lung diseases, such as asthma and COPD, affect tens of millions of people. As the nation’s leader in preventing and treating lung diseases, the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) is advancing research in many ways. Through studies, clinical trials, and education, NHLBI has made, and continues to make, significant progress in improving the diagnosis and treatment of lung diseases. To further support public health efforts, NHLBI created Learn More Breathe Better®, a national health education program that aims to bring greater visibility to lung health by translating research for public and professional education programs. To drive outreach at the community level, the Learn More Breathe Better® program coordinates the Breathe Better Network, a partnership of organizations around the country working to raise awareness of lung health in their communities.
