Exciting News! 🎉 Rural Finance Initiative (RUFI) has won the 2024 European Microfinance Award for their work in financial inclusion for refugees in Uganda! RUFI empowers refugees and host communities with access to financial services, loans, and green energy financing. With 80% of staff being refugees, their approach is a powerful example of resilience and self-reliance. World Food Day reminds us of the urgent need for sustainable solutions to food security, particularly in refugee communities. Refugees often face limited access to land and resources, yet they hold incredible potential to contribute to local economies through agriculture. At the Refugee Investment Network (RIN), we are committed to supporting refugee-led and refugee-supporting enterprises that empower displaced people to grow their own food, generate income, and become self-reliant. Our work with partners like Asili Agriculture and GADC shows how investing in refugees not only fosters food security but also strengthens communities. Together, we can create a world where everyone has access to nutritious food and the means to produce it. 🌱 #WorldFoodDay #FoodSecurity #InvestInRefugees #RefugeeLensInvesting #SustainableAgriculture

Excited to share that the Refugee Investment Network (RIN) and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) are driving private sector involvement in refugee economic inclusion across Ethiopia, Uganda, and Kenya! Through workshops and consultations, RIN and IGAD have brought together private sector actors, government officials, and NGOs to identify investment opportunities and challenges in refugee-hosting areas. The result? Co-created Policy Action Roadmaps for each country, outlining strategies to boost private sector engagement and improve the economic landscape for refugees and host communities. I had a terrific few days in Jordan with Refugee Investment Network last week and witnessed firsthand what I already knew: the potential of the local private sector - from manufacturing to agriculture - in inclusive development and the vibrant #impactinvesting and #entrepreneurship ecosystem, especially as powered by women, technology, sustainability, and the creative sector. A personal highlight was visiting a SEP store, a #refugeelens brand I've been following for years. More to come soon...many thanks in the meantime for everyone's hospitality!

Designed and conducted by Five One Labs, with support from USAID, the event brought together over a dozen RLI entrepreneurs and a large and diverse group of impact investors from the United States, Latin America and Colombia to Barranquilla to learn about – and invest in – the burgeoning RLI startup ecosystem on the Caribbean Coast and across Colombia. Bilingual Business Administrator, Finance Specialist and Master in Finance from the Universidad del Norte,
🌍World Refugee Day: A Note of #Gratitude and a Call to Action On this World Refugee Day, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to the teams at Five One Labs and Refugee Investment Network. They have been outstanding allies in the USAID Oportunidades sin Fronteras Project, promoting #ImpactInvestment with a Migration Lens in Colombia. I firmly believe that the best way to address Latin America's most significant social challenges is through #creativity, #innovation, and #technology. #Entrepreneurs and #business #leaders who provide high-impact, sustainable solutions applicable to our region are crucial in this effort. To celebrate this day, I am excited to share the report from the talented team at Five One Labs, highlighting the stories of 14 diverse migrant-lens #startups in Colombia. These ventures are tackling issues in mobility, environment, financial inclusion, and economic autonomy, among others. 🌟 1. #Gettoknowthem 🌟 2. #Reachout 🌟 3. #Invest 🌟 4. #Support Discover more in the following link: https://shorturl.at/XCcsX #WorldRefugeeDay #Entrepreneurship #SocialImpact #Investment #Innovation cc Darlin Milena Rodríguez Guerra Sergio Barraza Sergio Cadavid Ramos Jenny Natalia Vargas Arteaga Yadira M.
