It’s essential to recognize the links between climate change and respiratory health. Infectious diseases, like pneumonia, remain a leading cause of illness and death worldwide, particularly among vulnerable populations like children under 5. Climate change contributes to pneumonia in various ways: air pollution and particulate matter can weaken respiratory systems, while extreme weather events like floods and hurricanes can lead to overcrowded living conditions and increased exposure to infectious pathogens. Learn how USAID is partnering with countries to combat preventable infectious diseases, like pneumonia, by supporting more climate-resilient communities and health systems through our new strategies: Climate Strategy: https://lnkd.in/gzMQGdrJ Resilience Policy: https://lnkd.in/e4CD_bzs

In 1997 USAID was one of the first development agencies in the world to adopt a formal disability policy to champion #DisabilityRights. Building on this legacy, we are proud to share the Nothing Without Us USAID Disability Policy. This new policy updates our understanding of disability to a social and rights-based framework — with the goal of removing societal barriers to participation of persons with disabilities in their communities. This updated policy will guide the Agency in responding to the needs and perspectives of persons with disabilities worldwide in today’s global context.
