So great to host The Coca-Cola Foundation team at CARE HQ last week! We’ve worked together for more than 30 years to respond to natural disasters in the US and around the world. It was exciting to see Foundation President Carlos Pagoaga model our newest collaboration, the innovative Emergency CARE Package – this lightweight, customizable backpack will be distributed in rapid-onset emergency settings with locally sourced shelter, water, kitchen, and hygiene kits to sustain a family of four for 30 days. Grateful for our longstanding partnership!

Today is #WorldToiletDay, and around 60% of the world's population does not have adequate access to a toilet in their home. Many are forced to go outdoors, which carries many health risks. Contact with human waste can cause diseases, including cholera, typhoid, hepatitis, polio, diarrhea, worm infestation and malnutrition. Let us continue to work towards a world where everyone has access to humane sanitation facilities.

🌍💼 Across the world, women entrepreneurs are breaking down myths about confidence in business. CARE's new research reveals that 96% of women business owners feel confident in their abilities to lead and grow their businesses, with 87% aiming to expand! 🚀 These women are making strategic decisions—whether alone or with family support—that drive their success and fuel their ambitions. However, external barriers persist: nearly 1 in 3 lack confidence in accessing financial resources, 34% are without a reliable professional network, and 33% feel unprepared to leverage digital tools for business growth. These barriers stand between women and the thriving businesses they envision. This research calls for change. It’s time for investors, market actors, and policymakers to step up, providing the tools and opportunities women entrepreneurs need to fully unleash their potential. In #Sudan, a prolonged, brutal war combined with famine and flooding continue to fuel a horrific humanitarian catastrophe. The conflict has lasted more than 19 months, devastating lives and livelihoods and exacerbating the world’s largest hunger, protection, and displacement crisis. Sudan is facing the worst levels of food insecurity in its history, with 26 million people in acute hunger. Deaths previously confirmed to exceed 20,000 are now estimated as high as 150,000. Alarming levels of sexual and gender-based violence terrorize women and girls who have been forced to flee their homes and are trapped in a nightmare. CARE is working with partners to address food insecurity, health and nutrition, water and sanitation, and gender-based violence. Since January, we have reached more than 1.25 million people with humanitarian aid including critical nutrition programming and cash assistance. But the needs are vast and growing. Only an immediate ceasefire and urgent action can relieve this suffering. https://ow.ly/nys950U9v4O

Imagine missing school because you’re too sick from drinking contaminated water. That was Bonface's reality in rural Kenya. Thanks to P&G Children’s Safe Drinking Water (CSDW) partner CARE, he gained access to clean water, better health and a brighter future. Bonface learned about water hygiene and became a leader in his school, teaching his classmates about the life-changing impact of clean water. Today, he continues to champion the transformative #PowerOfCleanWater in his community. As we approach #WorldChildrensDay, we celebrate 20 years of the CSDW Program. Together with over 150 partners, we've provided 23 billion liters of clean water across 100+ countries — helping to support the health and education of children and families and the growth of communities. Join us as we work toward our goal of 25 billion liters by 2025: https://lnkd.in/gkeYg76K

"I was preparing bread for my children when the ground began to shake violently,” recalls Maryam*, a 35-year old mother of six in Herat, Afghanistan. "I was seven months pregnant." The roof collapsed onto her, and her baby was later born with severe deformities, passing away just three days later. Maryam was not alone. Between Oct. 7 and 15, 2023, three devastating earthquakes struck Afghanistan, leaving Maryam and thousands of others in shock and despair. In December 2023, with funding from UNFPA, CARE started psychosocial support services (PSS) in the Herat region that provided a lifeline for Maryam. https://ow.ly/uWxs50U4A5R
