I had an incredible experience attending the 3-Day Workshop on ''Applications of AI and Data-Driven Approaches in Structural Biology'' (AISB) 21-23 Oct'24 at CSIR-IGIB 🧬💻 This workshop provided invaluable insights into how AI is reshaping the field of structural biology. Insightful talks given by Dr. Fabian Falter ( RWTH Aachen University ) Eva Portius ( Forschungszentrum Jülich ) Dr Debasisa Mohanty ( NII - National Institute of Immunology ) Lipi Thukral, Ph.D ( CSIR-IGIB ) Sabrina Berkamp ( Forschungszentrum Jülich ) Martin Danner ( RWTH Aachen University ) Alexandros Katranidis (Forschungszentrum Jülich ) Dr.Casten Sachse Dr. Shandar Ahamad (Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) ) Hand-on session by Martin Danner ( RWTH Aachen University ) on how Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) can be leveraged to incorporate in silico predicted protein structures from AlphaFold, ESMFold and others into downstream tasks. Keynote lectures on : -Algorithms/LLMs underlying recent protein structural biology applications. -Introduction to protein dynamics and recent advances in ML/AI driven tools. -Multi-scale structural model of autophagy receptor p62/SQSTM1 by Alexandros Katranidis -In situ correlative light and electron microscopy: a case study of the cellular organization of autophagy receptor p62/SQSTM1 by Sabrina Berkamp -Capturing protein structures and their cellular context by cryo-EM by Dr. Carsten Sachse ( Forschungszentrum Jülich ) I’m excited to apply the knowledge gained from these sessions to my future work and research. A big thanks to the organizers and experts for sharing their knowledge and to the community for engaging in stimulating discussions. DWIH New Delhi Souvik Maiti DBT/WT India Alliance CSIR India
