This week (18 - 24 November) is World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week. This aims to raise awareness of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) and its impact on global public health. There are a number of European Bioinformatics Institute | EMBL-EBI tools and resources that can be used to investigate AMR. We're pleased to present our latest training collection, which introduces concepts and resources for exploring the effects of gene-environment interactions on human health: https://lnkd.in/eBbGDYpH This collection is suitable for anyone interested in understanding how interactions between genes and the environment can impact human health. No prior knowledge of bioinformatics is required, but undergraduate level knowledge of biology would be useful. It features relevant human cohort datasets, environmental readouts, and functional studies, and also emphasises the importance of ethical and legal frameworks regarding data privacy, consent, and genetic discrimination, which are crucial in this field. We are pleased to announce that applications for one of our most popular courses is now open!: https://lnkd.in/exhgtR_w This course takes place in Hinxton, UK and will provide an introduction to metabolomics through lectures and hands-on sessions, using publicly available data, software, and tools. You will become familiar with standardised workflows as well as with the current state of experimental design, data acquisition (LC-MS, MS imaging), processing, and modelling. You will also learn about community standards and sharing in metabolomics, particularly through the use of EMBL-EBI’s MetaboLights repository and Galaxy infrastructure.
