Share an Insight Tag across ad accounts in Campaign Manager

Last updated: 3 days ago

Tag permissions allow multiple ad accounts to use the same Insight Tag on campaigns for conversion tracking, website retargeting, and asset copying. For example, two different teams in your company advertise on LinkedIn and use separate accounts. Each team's campaign drives traffic to your company's website. With tag permissions, one team can add the tag to your company's website, but both teams can use the tag to track conversions and retarget visitors on their respective campaigns and accounts.

Before you share your Insight Tag across accounts

To share an Insight Tag across advertising accounts, you need:

  • Creative manager level access or higher on the account where the Insight Tag is being shared from.
  • Viewer level or higher access on the ad account that's receiving access to the Insight Tag.
  • The name or account ID for the ad account you want to share your Insight Tag with.

You’ll also need to decide if you want to allow full access or use-only access for your Insight Tag:

  • Full access - Allows the account you’re sharing with to modify the Insight Tag permissions, accounts, and segments. For example, the shared account can edit and share the Insight Tag with other accounts.
  • Use-only access - Restricts users on the account from granting any other accounts permission to use the Insight Tag.

Both full access and use-only access allow your shared account to:

  • Create conversion actions, launch conversion tracking campaigns, and access performance data on conversions.
  • Access free insights about an audience’s makeup under the Audiences page in Campaign Manager.

Important to know

Giving another account permission to use your tag doesn't impact your ability to use that tag for your own campaigns.

If you want to use an Insight Tag that's already been placed on your site, email the account admin and include a link to these instructions on how to grant you permission to use their Insight Tag.

Here's a tip

When a website retargeting audience list is copied over to another account that has the same Insight Tag, the website audience will continue updating to capture subsequent website visitors in the new ad account.
