Read a powerful article from Natalie Meyers, MPH (NA '22 alumna) on the urgent need to advocate for policies around the world that protect all patients, no matter the political landscape. #globalhealth #publichealth #womensleadership
🌍 This week’s election results have been a profound moment for many of us who dedicate our lives to advancing gender and health equity. It’s a sobering reminder of the divides we face in the U.S., as communities grapple with different perceptions or lived experiences of reality. As challenging as it feels, our work must persist, forging pathways to unity, justice, and healing. While it doesn’t feel like a moment for celebration, I remain proud to lift up the voices and work of remarkable surgeons and advocates I get to support, prioritizing the needs of patients worldwide. Even in these uncertain times, there have been bright spots in my small corner of the #globalhealth world: ✨ With the support of committed advocates like The G4 Alliance, International Society for Burn Injuries - ISBI, and many others, we marked the first-ever #WorldBurnsWeek – a powerful new milestone for burn care advocacy. ✨ I am also grateful to share a new op-ed I co-authored, "#Epilepsy and the Rising Risk of Burns," published in Council on Foreign Relations, Think Global Health. This work explores the often-overlooked intersections of epilepsy, poverty, and limited healthcare access, shedding light on how preventable injuries continue to impact those living on the margins. It’s a reminder of why we urgently need policies that prioritize and protect at-risk individuals, especially during uncertain times. And so grateful to get to work with incredible co-authors --- Anna Santos, Rose Alenyo, and Kush aeron. Please read, share, and join me in advocating for policies that uplift and protect all patients—no matter the political landscape. Together, we can continue to create meaningful change. And in the darkness we can all find the glimmer of hope from "The light of optimism, of faith, of truth and service," as Vice President Harris put it best. 💪 #HealthcareEquity #Advocacy #EpilepsyAwareness #PublicHealth ReSurge International, Harvard T.H.
