Housing across America, in communities large and small, is limited due to layers of regulatory barriers and limited resources. Zoning regulations in cities with under 100,000 residents often delay or prevent new housing development, impacting communities like Kaufman County, TX, where teacher shortages led to shortened school weeks tied to housing affordability issues. The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has a crucial role to play in addressing these challenges by promoting effective zoning reforms, offering scalable solutions, and providing guidance and resources to small and medium-sized cities. Today, Senator John Fetterman and Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester introduced the Reducing Regulatory Barriers to Housing Act, which will empower local governments to overcome these obstacles and tackle the housing crisis more effectively. https://lnkd.in/eytZyBiR #RealEstate #HousingDevelopment #UrbanPlanning #HousingCrisis #HUD #ZoningReform #PolicyChange
