November is #NationalDiabetesMonth. NYHPA health plans are dedicated to helping members manage their diabetes or prevent it in the first place. EmblemHealth launched a new Diabetes Prevention program at its Bronx Neighborhood Care center - available to all members of the community.

Bills passed this year that would require coverage of new benefits or place restrictions on cost sharing will lead to higher premiums for small businesses and individuals who purchase insurance in the marketplace. The New York Health Plan Association was honored to be on hand for Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Foundation's event highlighting the partnership with Healthy Birth Day, Inc. to expand its Count the Kicks stillbirth prevention program in Bronx, Kings, and Queens counties in New York state. The the evidence-based program aims to educate expectant parents about the importance of monitoring their baby’s movement in the third trimester of pregnancy. Research shows at least 1 in 4 stillbirths can be prevented when expectant parents are educated on the importance of getting to know their baby’s normal movement patterns starting at 28 weeks.
