This November, as we recognize Alzheimer's Awareness Month, we're inspired by the story of Huntsville Hospital nurse, Tammy Baer. In memory of her father, Tammy has been creating "fidget blankets" to comfort patients with Alzheimer's disease. 💜 Pictured here, Dr. Linnea Pepper, a geriatrician at Huntsville Hospital, is presenting one of these comforting blankets to a patient. Thanks to the support of the Huntsville Hospital Foundation, we're able to provide these special blankets to patients in need. 🥳 Read the full story to learn more about Tammy's inspiring journey and the impact of these blankets here: https://bit.ly/3ZfFal9

Help us give a big HH Health shout out to Logan Jenkins, RN! 📣 We surprised Logan with our highest nursing honor, the DAISY Award 💮, for his exceptional care of a critically ill cardiac patient. His clinical expertise and compassion not only helped the patient recover -- it helped the man's wife overcome a lifelong fear of hospitals. “Logan went above and beyond to explain everything happening with my care, from ventilator settings to therapeutic hypothermia,” the patient recalled. “As my wife learned more about my care, she slowly realized the medical field isn’t something to fear. In her words, Logan felt like a guardian angel helping her through this crisis.” 💚

🦃It’s Thanksgiving season, and we’re feeling thankful for awesome nurses like Michelle Japa Bernabel.🙏 🩺 Michelle has been a Registered Nurse for only a short time but already has a knack for making patients in our 5th floor Medical Unit feel comfortable enough to voice their concerns. She is also a joy to be around with her infectious smile and upbeat personality. “She deserves to be recognized for her awesomeness!” one of her co-workers said. We agree and just surprised Michelle with Huntsville Hospital’s November Employee of the Month Award. Congrats!🎈🏆🎉💚

Students from the University of Alabama in Huntsville's music program gave the gift of calm, warmth, and welcome to lobby visitors on Monday—through piano tunes. Volunteer pianists, orchestrated through the hospital's music therapy program, played tunes on a newly-donated grand piano placed in the lobby of Huntsville Hospital for Women & Children in July 2024. Music contributes to a relaxing atmosphere for visitors while they wait. This gift of music was secured by Huntsville Hospital Foundation thanks to a generous grant from national funder, Angelina's Song.
