Advancing Biomanufacturing in Africa: NIBRT Supports IPD’s First Vaccine Manufacturing Course Last week, two of NIBRT’s training staff, John Milne PhD Milne and Dermot O Sullivan O’Sullivan, travelled to Dakar, Senegal, to contribute to the inaugural "Introduction to Vaccine Manufacturing" course. This programme was organised by the Institut Pasteur de Dakar (IPD) in partnership with the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) and supported by the MADIBA Workforce Development Programme, an IPD initiative with the Mastercard Foundation. IPD is the latest member of NIBRT’s global partner programme, where we support organisations in developing advanced biopharma manufacturing capabilities by enabling them to licence NIBRT’s expertise to deliver biopharma training and education in their local region. This programme represents an important step in Africa’s journey towards vaccine sovereignty, aligned with the Africa CDC’s target of producing 60% of the continent’s vaccines locally by 2040. It united participants from across the continent, all contributing to the development of a robust and self-reliant biomanufacturing ecosystem in Africa. We extend our thanks to the incredible team at IPD, including Marieme Sy, Paul Xavier Etter, Fatou Kine Sambe, Farida Tairou, Amadou Sall and all the trainees for their warm welcome and engagement. NIBRT was proud to participate in this high impact programme, which highlights the power of collaboration in advancing healthcare. John Milne PhD Killian O'Driscoll Dermot O Sullivan
