ICARS pursues the achievement of its ambitious mission and vision of partnering with LMICs to mitigate AMR.
Om os
Imagine a world in which AMR no longer poses a threat to the health of humans and animals, the environment, global food security and economic prosperity. This is our vision at the International Centre for Antimicrobial Resistance Solutions - ICARS. ICARS provides One Health intervention and implementation research support to low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) in their efforts to prevent and mitigate AMR. Through our activities, we enter into partnerships with LMICs to advance the implementation of their National Action Plans (NAPs). These partnerships involve projects through which we co-develop and test new solutions for AMR mitigation, translate existing evidence into action, all while supporting capacity and capability building in LMICs. Our work also extends to advocacy for the importance of Implementation Research as a means to deliver on the NAPs.

🌍 As we celebrate World AMR Awareness Week, we reflect on the critical role that gender and equity perspectives play in shaping effective, inclusive solutions to antimicrobial resistance (#AMR). 🌱 From November 4 to 8, ICARS hosted a workshop on AMR, gender, and equity in Bangkok, Thailand. The event brought together 14 participants from ICARS-funded projects, along with representatives from ICARS and the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), subject matter experts, and observers from FAO. The aim was to strengthen the integration of gender and equity in AMR research across the human and animal health sectors. 💡 Over the week, attendees explored how gender and equity influence AMR outcomes and developed tailored work plans to apply these insights to their ongoing projects. By focusing on these perspectives, AMR research becomes more inclusive, impactful, and aligned with a #OneHealth approach. 🤝 ICARS thanks all participants, organisers at VNU Asia Pacific, and experts who made this collaborative workshop a success.
