Under the leadership of the new Council Chairman Roberto Cazzulo, the IACS Council convened in Rome last week for its 89th session (C89) and made progress on various issues. One of the most significant points was the need to incorporate human element considerations into all IACS workflows at the earliest stages. During this important session, in which Türk Loydu, as a member of IACS, participated, the following key points were highlighted: · Trained over 150 technical experts on fundamentals of Human Element Impact Assessment, with an aim to develop a High-level Position Paper to promote industry-wide understanding and collaboration. · Work initiated within Safe Digital Transformation Panel, focusing on complex systems, data quality and safety management for MASS. · Advancements made on safe decarbonization with five Unified Requirements under development. · Review of UR Z29 on Remote Survey to ensure quality and alignment with IMO developments. · Marked the end of Mr. LI Zhiyuan’s tenure as Chair of IACS General Policy Group and welcomed Dr. Ajay Asok Kumar as the new Chair. 🚨 The EU Court of Justice today ANNULLED the EU Commission's approval of State aid for the German charter airline Condor, at request of Ryanair 🚨   🔨Key point of the judgement: The EU Commission should have had doubts about the compatibility of that State aid with EU law.
