One thing that was on my mind over the weekend that is still lingering today is that the rest of this decade feels like a crucial time for charting Kentucky’s future. Will we as a state continue to build on momentum and move towards the future by establishing a foothold in key next-generation industries and paving a path for economic mobility for our talent to stay here and thrive? Or, will we cling to what’s comfortable and watch the bright minds of the next-generation leave and let the world pass us by? Will we be a state that leads the globe on the hardest challenges of our time, or will be a place where others come to reminisce on a time that once was? It’s up to everyone that has ties to Kentucky to keep us in the fight. It’s truly a fight against many global headwinds, but we can’t lose sight of what is at stake. We have to keep striving for just, equitable, purpose-driven lives that align with the values that make us all Kentuckians: grit, family, community, and ingenuity. I am optimistic, but we have to be intentional. #kycanlead #fightforkentucky

In the spirit of Henry Ford's timeless insight, it’s crucial to remember the power of collaboration in achieving success. The journey from coming together to staying united, and then working in unison, marks the true path to collective achievements. Embracing this philosophy within our teams and partnerships can transform challenges into victories and aspirations into realities. Here's to fostering teamwork that leads to enduring success in all our endeavors. Much Love and Cheers. On this, the final official day of #blackhistorymonth, we are going to take a bit of a turn and focus on two *current* business development #historymakers right here in Louisville. If you have not had a chance to meet James Beckett and Johnetta Roberts, then you have at least been - or will be - impacted by their business development work in West Louisville. In his own words, Re:land Group founding partner James H. Beckett describes his passion and drive: "I build things that were not previously there. This includes 'hope.' Embarking on purpose-driven journeys to make transformational change takes conviction and courage. My passion for building transcends industries, organizational charts, job titles and international borders. Being comfortable with the uncomfortable runs in my veins and it is time to inspire my colleagues to get a bit uncomfortable for the betterment of others. I am always considering the possibilities to create a better future." Johnetta Roberts is making her own mark on business development that focuses on the needs and voices of the community, and uplifts community members as critical stakeholders in any business development project. The Founder and CEO of The 40 & 1 Company -- a real estate project and business initiatives consulting firm based in Louisville's west end -- reflects, "I grew up in a neighborhood that was rich with people but lacked financial investment and wealth building opportunities. I founded my company because I want children currently living in Louisville's west end to enjoy vibrant and safe commercial buildings full of thriving businesses in their neighborhoods." There is much, much more to come from these two local history makers, and we at Bakers Studio are thrilled to have a front-row seat to the action. #blackhistorymonth #wmbe #businessdevelopment #louisville #westlouisville #fortyandone #relandgroup #bakersstudio

Portland can’t afford to miss this moment. With a new system at city hall, we need a new kind of mayor: an executive with a track record of getting results. Ballots have arrived, and voters have a choice. Given the performance of Portland city government in recent years, should we favor the political insiders and “promote from within,” or choose a new leader with decades of experience in transformation management, civic engagement, and nonprofit leadership? Here’s the bottom line: I am by far the most experienced candidate for our new system, and I am ready to handle the critical tasks of city leadership from Day One. For me, integrity and accountability isn’t just a promise; it’s a track record. The organizations I lead are committed to excellence, integrity, and inclusion on every level. The people I choose don’t take shortcuts, make excuses, or leave others behind. A city leadership culture that prioritizes everyone is a culture that is capable of achieving anything.

"We lead the nation in the percentage of African Americans in manufacturing,' he says. 'We lead the nation in the percentage of females in manufacturing. So if diversity, equity, and inclusion are a primary focus for these new companies, Memphis will help them accomplish their goals.' Not many Memphians are fully aware of the business power already centered in our city. Five Fortune 1000 companies have headquarters here — FedEx, International Paper, AutoZone, First Horizon, and Mueller Industries — with many name-brand publicly traded companies located here as well, including Terminix, Varsity Spirit, Hilton, and others. The world’s leading medical device firms, such as Medtronic, Smith & Nephew, and Stryker, have manufacturing operations here." Learn more about how Memphis is making moves in the future in this Contemporary Media, Inc. spotlight.

⚾ Mets Victory + Philly's Big Win! 🌳 As a Flushing native & lifelong Mets fan, I'm still buzzing from our incredible win over the Phillies! The rally towels were flying, Lindor was crushing it, and NYC was electric. But while the 7 Line Army is celebrating, let's take a moment to tip our caps to another win happening in Philadelphia—this time (thankfully), off the field. 🏙️ Philly's Clean and Green Initiative is turning vacant lots into vibrant spaces, proving that when a city invests in its neighborhoods, it gets way more than just good looks. From reducing crime to improving mental health, this initiative is a game-changer. So, while the Mets advance, Philly's public policy deserves its own round of applause. 👏 It's proof that transforming communities is a team effort, whether on the diamond or in our cities. Check out my Malcom Gladwell inspired piece on how Philly (the city not Harper or Schwarber) is knocking it out of the park: https://lnkd.in/eDr2Yhwp #CleanAndGreen #UrbanRenewal #PublicPolicy #NeighborhoodPride #MentalHealthMatters #CrimeReduction #UrbanGreening #Sustainability #Mets #LGM #OMG #7LineArmy
