Our summer of experts:   Next up in our summer special is Dr. Thomas H. Rehm. Thomas Rehm is our expert when it comes to sustainable synthesis processes. He is particularly dedicated to cascade reactions in flow.   Synthesizing fine chemicals, especially those with chiral centers, poses enormous challenges due to the need for catalyst-supported steps and high product purity. Controlling stereoselectivity is crucial to avoid costly separations. Current batch processes are often inefficient with long changeover times and complex controls.   To address these challenges Fraunhofer IMM and its partner institutes develop a new modular technology platform focusing on continuous flow synthesis under mild and selective conditions.
