So great that Lenovo was rated highly in the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s 2023-2024 Corporate Equality Index (CEI) for the sixth year in a row, across policies, benefits, culture and CSR for LGBTQ+ employees. One of our most recent initiatives for our employees is in improving visibility and measurement in a range of demographic categories, encouraging self-disclosure of gender, racial and ethnic identities and both visible and invisible disabilities in internal systems. With Pride month just over, it is a good time to reflect on how important inclusive workplaces are for LGBTQ+ colleagues. Yet employers can inadequately support colleagues because of a lack of awareness and understanding around issues the LGBTQ+ community face in the workplace. With that in mind, we are highlighting initiatives that two Business in the Community Ireland members, Enterprise Mobility and Iarnród Éireann Irish Rail are doing to support their LGBTQ+ colleagues. Enterprise Mobility is committed to creating a diverse, equitable and inclusive work environment rooted in the value of ‘our doors are open’ that promotes LGBTQ+ equality. Enterprise Mobility have a dedicated ‘Transgender Toolkit’ that is shared to their entire employee network. This toolkit was developed in recognition that we don’t live in a world where everyone is able to be themselves in the workplace.    Iarnod Eireann’s support for the LGBTQ+ community is both internal and external. They have a robust Dignity and Respect framework and a Transgender Policy which underpin their commitment to a safe and enjoyable workplace for all. As we continue to celebrate Pride Month, it’s an honour to be named by EG as a leading firm and “exemplar” of LGBTQ+ inclusivity for a second year in a row via their real estate survey. The EG survey seeks to understand the experiences of the LGBTQ+ community within the UK’s built environment sector. The results highlight best practices and recognise organisations working hard to create inclusive places to work. We’d like to thank our ME:Pride network and everyone who commended our LGBTQ+ inclusion efforts. The report also highlights the great strides being made, with 84% of respondents being out in the workplace and 90% believing they work at a firm that provides a safe space for the LGBTQ+ community. When you get into the detailed responses, it’s clear that there is still more to be done, with experiences varied across the industry.
