Collegiate Recovery Programmes, or CRPs, are designed to support students and staff who strive for recovery from substance use, alcohol, or behavioural addictions, while achieving success in higher education. CRPs create environments within existing campus cultures, and wellbeing programmes, where people in recovery feel safe, supported and valued. Research from the 150+ CRPs in the United States has found that CRPs contribute to both successful recovery from addiction, and improved academic outcomes when compared to the general student population. 💭 Here are a few of the most powerful thoughts I’m reflecting on from Dayton Moore’s session: Make an advanced decision. A decision in the moment is a reaction. Take no credit for the wins but all of the responsibility for the mistakes. If you’re not making mistakes, you’re not being aggressive enough. Give people more than they expect. Don’t buy into fear and don’t let perfection paralyze you. Model the behavior you want to see. Be real with your team. You never grow out of the need to practice the fundamentals and build the muscle. You won’t be perfect, but we serve a perfect God who modeled perfect leadership in Christ. 💪

College football is going through rapid changes as teams from the Pac-12 Conference prepare to enter new conferences in the 2024-25 academic year. However, the long distance from the West Coast to the locations of the other schools in the Big 12 Conference, Big Ten Conference, and Atlantic Coast Conference creates a logistical headache for athletic directors nationwide. These changes will create long journeys for these former Pac-12 teams to attend away games. ✈️ For example, the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) football team is preparing to fly over 20,000 miles (32,187 kilometers) for six away games this season. ✈️ UCLA is also working with cross-town rivals University of Southern California (USC) to share flights between Los Angeles and away games to reduce the quantity of travel. ✈️ The conference realignment will affect student-athletes through longer flights, more missed classes, and time zone changes. ✈️ The University of Hawaii will assist the former Pac-12 teams with making these long journeys.
