Chicago, United States, #illinois, In addition to owning candy stores, Charles Cretors also founded C. Cretors and Company in Chicago. He created a brand-new popcorn machine that could pop #popcorn consistently in its own seasoning; he brought it to the Columbian Exposition in Chicago, where it was an immediate hit and broke the record for the World's First Mobile Popcorn Machine.
According to a report by Scientific American, this machine was created with the intention of being moved to any place where its #operator could potentially make a profit. The device, which is robust and lightweight at only 400 or 500 pounds, can be easily pulled by a boy or a small pony to any park, fair, political gathering, etc., as well as to numerous other locations where #productive work could be done for a few days."

Charles Cretors, an Ohio candy store owner, was born. When he bought a peanut roaster in the hopes of serving freshly roasted nuts at his shop, he had no idea that he would be taking a major step toward defining American culture. Strangely enough, it all started when he lost patience with the machine's output.
Feeling that it was insufficient, the irritated Cretors started experimenting with the peanut roster, designing a new device that would integrate durability, simplicity, utility, and elegance. From that one peanut roaster, Cretors created a completely new device that roasted peanuts and popped kernels in a matter of years.
Since their invention more than 4,000 years ago, popcorn makers have undergone significant evolution. These days, these machines heat oil or air to heat large batches of corn kernels at once using electricity. Popcorn comes in convenient packages that you can use in the microwave or over an open flame. But the early machines don't resemble the ones we see today," the Street Directory notes.
"The earliest known #popcornmachine was created by an ancient New Mexican civilization when they learned that a particular variety of corn would 'pop' when heated. To make the kernels pop, they would add them to finely ground sand that had been heated over a fire.
