Reactor vendors and utilities can use the page to best understand what goes into high-quality applications for construction permits, operating licenses, design certifications and other NRC licensing products. We’ve assembled almost 300 documents covering safety and environmental issues that apply to the widest possible range of reactor technologies. We’ll update the collection as more guidance is finalized. In the world of impact compaction, the amount of compaction applied is usually controlled by measuring the compaction settlement between a set number of passes.   This is a manual method involving laser levels on a grid basis of approximately 10x10m. It’s incredibly slow, doesn’t yield accurate results, and isn't able to measure localized areas with higher compressibility that require additional compaction.   That’s why Dynamic Compaction Solutions introduced Intelligent Compaction Measurement (ICM), a new technology measuring soil and settlements with 100% site coverage. It offers users the ability to review detailed data in real time allowing you to calibrate your construction approach with confidence.   The measurements of the settlement can also be continuously monitored through easy-to-understand color-coded maps! In most cases of failed engineering projects, we often hear about legal actions being taken against those responsible for the failure. However, it is rare to hear about technical investigations being conducted and the results being published for other engineers to learn from. In my opinion, legal actions alone are not sufficient to prevent such failures from occurring in the future. It is important to conduct technical investigations to identify the root cause of the failure and share the results in the public domain. This would enable other engineers to learn from these mistakes and avoid similar failures in the future. I recently came across a website called damfailure (link in the comment), which provides case studies of dam failures. This website is a useful resource to understand what went wrong in a particular dam project and learn from it.
