Throwback to my time in the laboratory where I was culturing induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC) for regeneration of the nucleus pulposus. This was part of my research work on a typical day. 🧫🔬 . I contributed to a study that aimed to identify a biomaterial that could support the survival and differentiation of seeded iPSC-Mesendoderm progenitor cells (iPSC-MEPCs). During the study, I recovered the iPSC-MEPCs, seeded them into injectable biomaterials and cultured them under physioxic conditions. I then analyzed the iPSC-MEPCs and biomaterial constructs for cell phenotype, morphology, and the expression of extracellular matrix markers using histological and immunohistochemical staining. The study focused on investigating whether MEPCs had the potential to show initial regenerative potential including retaining viability and producing extracellular matrix. . https://lnkd.in/ekNKRDKV . #discdegeneration #iPSpine #biomaterials #lowbackpain #IVD #spinesurgery #research #stemcells #regenerativemedicine #innovativesolutions

BAD SCIENCE - What's true and what's not true? Even my beloved father, a distinguished and brilliant surgeon, had trouble separating fact from fiction regarding "dodgy" science claims. For example, "red wine prevents breast cancer" or "fish oil improves school performance." Seems reasonable but these claims are not supported by EVIDENCE. Please watch this! https://lnkd.in/emUkUEFV

🎉 Exciting Milestone Alert! 🎉 I am thrilled to share that my research on tumor markers in cirrhosis and HCC has reached a significant milestone - a hundred reads! 📚🔬 It's truly humbling to see the interest and engagement surrounding this important area of study. Cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) pose significant challenges in healthcare, and understanding tumor markers is crucial for early detection, prognosis, and treatment strategies. Through my research, I aim to shed light on novel biomarkers and their potential implications for patients with these conditions. I am grateful for the support of my colleagues, collaborators, and the scientific community at large for their interest in my work. This milestone serves as a reminder of the importance of our collective efforts in advancing knowledge and improving patient outcomes. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the success of this research endeavor. Let's continue to push boundaries, ask critical questions, and work towards a future where effective diagnostic and therapeutic strategies are available for all those affected by cirrhosis and HCC. #Research #TumorMarkers #Cirrhosis #HCC #MedicalScience #Healthcare #ScientificDiscovery #MedicalResearch #LiverHealth #Oncology #CancerResearch #BiomedicalScience #HealthScience #AcademicResearch #MedicalInnovation #ScientificCommunity #Medicine #HealthcareDiscovery #AcademicAchievement #HealthTech #BioMarkers #ScientificProgress #LiverCancer #ScienceCommunication #WomenInMedicine 🌟🔍

To date very few journals publish video articles in our field, despite their usefulness for sharing techniques and improving their replicability. For this reason, I have opened a Methods Collection with JoVE on “Small Animal Models of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia”: https://lnkd.in/g8DnMExu The purpose of this collection is to demonstrate methodologies incorporating small animals, including mice and zebrafish, in the study of acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Authors submit a traditional text manuscript, after which JoVE handles all the video production. If you or other researchers you know are interested in contributing a video article, please either message me or submit an abstract here: https://lnkd.in/g6ttnF2Y

1moListened to the Foundation Day Lecture in the morning through the link provided. The voice volume was very low, no voice in between and couldn’t listen to the question asked by by experts from the audience.
