Your GP is probably your first port of call, but you can also find advice on websites like stroke.org.uk. It might take some time to get everything into place, but once you have that extra care and support right in your own home, you and your loved one will be able to enjoy the quality of life you both deserve. 💜 For impartial guidance and advice about home care or round-the-clock live-in care you can reach us by phone on 01494 917 344 or by email at care@ashridgehomecare.co.uk #ActionOnStrokeMonth #MakeMayPurple #Awareness #CareChoices

Today is World Stroke Day, an annual day for stroke awareness activity around the world. Strokes are an increasing problem the older we get as about 75 percent of strokes occur in people 65 or older, and it has been estimated that the chance of having a stroke doubles every decade after 55. However, strokes can happen to anyone, at any age. In fact, globally about one in four adults over the age of 25 will have a stroke in their lifetime. That is why it is important to know the signs and keep F.A.S.T (Face Drooping, Arm Weakness, Speech Difficulty = Time to Call 911) in mind when someone around you may potentially be experiencing a stroke. This World Stroke day is aimed at focusing on the emotional power of sport to drive stroke awareness and to motivate everyone to take daily action to reduce our stroke risk.
