KOMAN Holdings, LLC's own VP of Construction, Tamie Taylor, joined in the fun while representing the National Association of Women in Construction at "Trunk or Treat with the Trades" in Anchorage last weekend. The event helps raise money for the local Elementary School Backpack program. What a "paw-fect" way to kick off the spooky season! 👻

Kudos to this incredible young man. Having become indigent for several years when my ex-husbands wealthy family paid all his legal fees in repeatedly suing and pounding me into poverty, I can honestly speak from experience as a mother of 3 children who suffered in poverty during those years it is absolutely OUTRAGEUS that any child in America is NOT served lunch. I am extremely lucky I "made it," but my children and I have NEVER forgotten those days. Every time I see a story like this i just shake. There should be absolutely no social order associated with school lunches anywhere in this country. ALL school lunches in America should be offered at NO CHARGE as part of our school curriculum. I would GLADLY support tax increases to cover the costs of a nationally required program to feed, at no charge, all children in our schools for lunch. And in a balanced program, children can still be make "choices"--green beans or peas, chicken, eat or fish--they choose-- white milk, chocolate milk, what kind of juice, Jello , pudding or graham crackers as a light desert, etc etc etc--so the child fees like he can have some individuality while the school maintains variety would be great. None of us cannot expect a hungry, impoverished child to learn anything while operating on an empty stomach--or while being ridiculed because the child has to present a voucher or the as*hole "cashier" loudly turns the child away for an overdrawn account or lack of funds. In this day and age the fact this has still not been addressed is beyond my comprehension:
Cayden, an 8-year-old, took action when his friend was denied a hot meal at school due to school lunch debt. Cayden, with the support of his mom, initiated a fundraiser called "No Child Goes Hungry" to assist students who were facing meal challenges. Through his efforts, Cayden successfully raised over $40,000, showcasing his inspiring generosity and compassion.

Today I launched a new business! CLEcast offers affordable continuing legal education (CLE) credits to the legal community and splits net profit with nonprofits. When I was brainstorming ways to raise money for Politisit, a friend mentioned that ethics CLEs often raise a lot from the legal community. I decided to run with this and create a whole company. When you buy a CLE, you get to pick which nonprofit your money supports, and we rotate partner nonprofits each month. Please tell the lawyers in your network and alert your favorite nonprofit about this simple funding stream. Check out CLEcast.net.

Now, she must choose: accept lobbyist money with strings attached or stay true to her values. Discover how different types of political funding can impact candidates and their values: ✔ Personal Funds: Full control but financially draining ✔ Public Funding: Fairness with strict regulations ✔ Individual Donations: Grassroots support but hard to gather ✔ PACs: Interest group influence ✔ Super PACs: Unlimited donations from wealthy donors and corporations https://lnkd.in/guMAcMMD

Did you know? 💡 20 of the 27 public schools in High Point are considered Title 1, meaning that over 57% of students live in households with low incomes. 💡Amongst these schools, 4,381 students were chronically absent in the 2022-23 school year. Support the Leadership High Point Class of 2024 by contributing to our fundraiser for the Communities In Schools of High Point Resource Closet-- and combat chronic absenteeism by providing essential items to all 27 schools in High Point to distribute to students in need! Our goal is to raise $7,500 to purchase the items needed to fully stock the Resource Closet-- and you can help us get there! 🙂 Make a tax-deductible contribution here: https://lnkd.in/eJBFp3dg
