🚀 The first publication from the LABDA project! 🚀 We are pleased to announce that our first paper, written by our fellow Mari Sone and co-authored by Mai Chin A Paw and Teatske Altenburg, was published in the Journal of Physical Activity and Health 🥳 https://lnkd.in/e5wr3X5N The title is: Challenges and Future Directions for Promoting Intersectional Quantitative Studies in Physical Activity Research 🌈 In the article, they discussed that we are facing a lack of intersectional quantitative studies in the physical activity field, and we need more of them for social justice. ⚖️ To promote this more, (1) we need better accessibility for large and diverse datasets 📂 (2) more inclusive and well-reflected social categorization in terms of gender and ethnicity 🏳️🌈 (3) inclusion of factors beyond skin color to address racism ✌🏻✌🏼✌🏾 If you are interested, click on the link to read and learn more about it! #LABDA #MSCA #publication #physicalactivity #intersectionality

The core of our mission at Uterinekind is a passion for advancing female health research through awareness and education. Because research improves the experience of care for everyone. We must follow the data. So here's some: According to Chloe E. Bird, Adjunct Senior Sociologist; Professor of Policy Analysis, Pardee RAND Graduate School: "Studies focused on rheumatoid arthritis in women receive just $6 million a year. Doubling that would deliver an ROI of 174,000 percent and add $10.5 billion to our economy over the 30-year timespan." Fibroids are a leading cause of hysterectomies and other costly procedures. Research leading to more effective and less invasive treatments could significantly reduce healthcare expenditures. A 2014 study estimated that developing a non-surgical cure for fibroids could save the US healthcare system $5.7 billion over 10 years. (Source: Journal of Women's Health) The returns are there. So, invest, collaborate, remain patient-centric and know that with every success for her, the entire economy benefits. Thank you all those who invest their time and talents to ensure female health is centered on this incoming wave of technological advancements. We are thrilled to share the research paper "A Mixed Methods Exploration of Young Women’s Agency and Mental Health during COVID-19 in Low-Income Communities in Mumbai, India." based on the study undertaken by Prof. Marie A. Brault in collaboration with Apnalaya has been published in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health. This study examined the elements of mental health and COVID-19 that exacerbated or mitigated adverse consequences for adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) in low-income communities in Mumbai. Findings revealed that there were noticeable effects on the stress and agency of AGYW due to factors such as limited access to education, financial insecurity along with community violence. Moreover, financial resources also created new opportunities for AGYW. 🥳 Congratulations to political scientist Franca van Hooren with the Vidi grant from NWO (Dutch Research Council) for 'Breaking the silence: politics, workers’ rights and the future of elderly care in Europe' 💐 The project examines why political reforms to improve elderly care have been lacking in Europe, despite the spotlight on care during the COVID-19 pandemic. It focuses on the poor working conditions of care workers, which threaten the future of elderly care. Franca aims to identify why political interventions are absent, create indicators to measure care workers' rights, study their political activism, and analyze decision-making processes. Ultimately, the project reveals which political strategies can contribute to a sustainable future for elderly care and decent working conditions for care workers. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eB3GV44u #careworker #elderycare #workersrights #politics #intervention #research #politicalscience
