The All India Research Scholars Association (AIRSA) held a meeting on September 6, 2024, to discuss the enhancement of research infrastructure to benefit researchers across India. AIRSA had already submitted a comprehensive proposal outlining plans to improve research infrastructure for current and future needs. While acknowledging the government's efforts, I suggest taking an additional step: conducting quality assessments of university professors through feedback from passed-out PhD scholars. Currently, enrolled PhD students often face barriers in speaking out against their supervisors due to fear of retribution, mental harassment, and financial exploitation.

it is a very good step taken by the government and I hope this will be implemented properly so that students from state universities can get the benefits of basic research and contribute to nation-building. Parallelly, the Government has to focus on filling all the vacant faculty positions too.

Thousands of Indian research scholars are facing significant challenges during their research tenures, despite repeated requests to higher authorities. Unfortunately, these concerns are often ignored, which is deeply disheartening for the research community in India.
Great initiative! The misalignments in Higher Education, however, need to be fixed first, and ecosystem tilted in favour of research.
