As a citizen of the Flathead Salish Tribal Nation in Western Montana and a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, Humana employee Terry Asay found personal and professional support as a member and co-president of Humana’s Native American and Indigenous (NA&I) Network Resource Group (NRG), a group that advocates for the inclusion of Native Americans and allies. “The Native American and Indigenous NRG provides a place to express myself as a Native American member and to learn from and share with others about impactful issues facing our community,” said Terry. “I was invited to share my experience during an episode of the NRG’s podcast and felt fully supported as I shared my personal and painful journey of self-actualization. Being involved in the group also allows me to expand my network and increase collaboration across Humana in personal and meaningful ways.” No matter where you are in your personal or professional journey, there is a place for you at Humana. Great timing for the release of this article on supporting Queer folks in the career space, both as an individual and as an organization, from the National Association of Colleges and Employers. Today, Worcester Polytechnic Institute's Heebner Career Development Center held our Employer Advisory Counsel, where we discussed the impact of community on early career talent recruitment and retention What ideas would you add? How is your organization doing in this realm? "Being an ally of the LGBTQ+ community isn’t just one thing, according to Cody A. Rapp and Riky Hanlan, who lead the LGBTQ & Allies NACE Affinity Group and explain that allyship looks different, sounds different, and feels different to everyone in the LGBTQ+ community, and, therefore, is challenging to define." https://lnkd.in/eCxxMUCq

Today is the 55th anniversary of the Stonewall riots. The Stonewall riots were led by the most marginalized people in the LGBTQ+ community, including Black and brown trans sex workers. This is why in many cities June is Pride month. When my wife and I visited NYC last month we met up with Edwin Vega, CPCC, PCC at The Stonewall Inn and then went for a walk. I admire how Edwin takes a fierce stand for making coaching a more inclusive and equitable space. He's got a giant heart. If you look at the photo below you'll see it beaming out of his gorgeous smile. A lot has changed in 55 years, and some of the progress we've made on LGBTQ+ rights are being eroded now. We need to take a fierce stand for all of letters, but especially for trans and non-binary youth. What will LGBTQ+ human rights look like 55 years from now, in 2078? Your actions today will impact that future reality. What will you commit to doing, either in your personal life or at work, to ensure trans and non-binary people are safe, included and have equal human rights?

*As seen on Oprah Daily* #1 Gender & Sexuality Affirming Coach-Consultant. Helping support your employee-parents, training culturally competent physician allies and affirming ALL transgender kids |Author |TEDx Speaker
Are you the DEI champion at your place of work? Do you cordinate talks and programs in your company for your diversity and supply chain? *Are you also perhaps in the LGBTQ+ community?* My name is Dr. Lulu. I am a Queer immigrant Pediatrician, mom of a trans child and podcast host working in mental health/ youth suicide prevention in the LGBTQ community. I support parents along their journey of affirming their children, and I help queer folks come out IN SPITE of their parents and society 😁. I would like to speak to your ERG/BRG members about LGBTQ+ advocacy and help y’all understand how to support both the Q+ employees AND parents of LGBTQ+ children. WHAT DOES (Gender) AFFIRMATION REALLY MEAN? How is that different from Acceptance and Gender Transition? And my last question: How differently would you have faired or how differently would your parents have responded to your coming out had they met someone like me BEFORE you came out to them? Let’s talk! Dr. Lulu

This #PrideMonth, we’re highlighting #LGBTQ+Health disparities across the US, focusing on the higher rates of mental health issues. LGBTQ+ youth, transgender individuals, and those in rural areas often experience depression and anxiety at significantly higher rates due to stigma, discrimination, and lack of access to inclusive healthcare. These mental health challenges lead to poorer overall health and reduced quality of life. #HealthyPeople2030 aims to improve the health, safety, and well-being of LGBTQ+ people through specific health behavior objectives and increased data collection on LGBTQ+ health. Together, let's advocate for #HealthEquity and support our LGBTQ+ community. Follow for more! Human Rights Watch Human Rights Campaign The Trevor Project

Visibility matters. Every person deserves to live authentically, without fear or discrimination. It is crucial that we uplift trans voices, advocate for equality, and create inclusive spaces where everyone feels seen and valued. It's not enough to recognize diversity we need to celebrate it! 🏳️⚧️ #TDOV #TransDayOfVisibility #Equality #Inclusion
Trans Day of Visibility is Thursday, March 29th. I have the privilege of working with amazingly talented transgender colleagues at RX Global and RELX, who are living their truth, and who navigate through the relentless noise of ignorant and hateful people every day outside of our “four walls” to simply live their peace and joy. Check your wiring, folks; empathy and kindness aren’t bad things, and most times only require a simple pause to consider a different perspective. #RXDiversity myGwork - LGBTQ+ Business Community

TAX PAYER ALERT: As a tax payer, patient, potential patient of NSW Health facilities like SVH you should be aware of what your hard earned tax dollars are being spent on by NSW Health facilities like SVH. Not front line health care staff like Registered Nurses but for positions where the radical left wing perverted gender and sexuality theories are being promoted. Be aware of how many of these positions there now are in NSW Health facilities. It appears like the alphabet crowd cronies are creating them as jobs for the boys, girls or whatever they're supposed to be. https://lnkd.in/gEd6HZru These positions use more tax payer funds than a Registered Nurse position but contribute nothing useful to the general patient population. https://lnkd.in/gz7H62qc What Health Care Professional do you want to be employed to care for your family, friends, loved ones or yourself? How much more useful to their health care would a Registered Nurse be vs. a position that designed to pander to and promote the activities of a tiny minority of the population that is confused, likely psychotic and or who are sexual deviants. Time to wake up TAX PAYERS and demand that your representatives put an end to the waste of TAX PAYER money that these roles are and demand that they ensure that these funds are diverted to roles that actually make a difference to our health care. Moreover, the people who are employed in these positions need to stop exploiting the TAX PAYER and go look for more useful roles to be employed in. If they have actual health care practitioner qualifications, they need to get back to practicing health care and stop using their qualifications to obtain roles where they operate as activists for a tiny proportion of the population that is confused, likely psychotic and or has no moral compass. Those people should be aware that TAX PAYERS are aware of your grift and attempts to exploit them to promote your and your cronies far left, deviant and amoral agenda. Go back to practicing in real health care roles or go home and let the moral practitioners get on with it. Oh and BTW it would be wise for you to stay away from the children. Don't believe for a moment that societies are going to tolerate interference with its children. https://lnkd.in/gZMS4au5

If you're part of the LGBTQ+ community on the Internet, you might know a thing or two about fandom! 🌈 This study aimed to better understand LGBTQ+ adolescents and young adults' view of LGBTQ+ representation and community climate in online fandom communities. 🌈 Historically, representation of LGBTQ+ individuals is negative, perpetuating stereotypes, and lack nuance in ways that strengthen heterosexism. Tropes such as “bury your gays” exist in mainstream media, i.e. where LGBTQ+ characters are subjected to death or violence for the sake of a dramatic or shocking plot line. 🌈 Current literature suggests that LGBTQ+ youth online participation allows folks to experience identity-based exploration, development activities, and community building. Fandom acts as a form of counterpublics, a form of space for withdrawal and regrouping for marginalized communities, providing skill buildings for counter activities directed at wider publics, such as LGBTQ+ activism. Check out the study on our research hub: https://lnkd.in/geWEM3a7

This Juneteenth, we recognize that Black and BIPOC LGBTQ+ young people carry an unfair burden of having to explain their identities. These difficult conversations often force Black queer and trans youth to have hard discussions on race, queer identities, or the intersection of both. We know that intersectional conversations can take a variety of forms. Some are engaging white friends for the first time about how being BIPOC impacts their experience in LGBTQ+ spaces, while others are opening up about the nuances of their queer experiences in BIPOC communities. For folks who hold multiple marginalized identities, it can sometimes feel overwhelming to explore the layers of these conversations with others — especially those whose lived experiences are different. We created this guide “Black & LGBTQ+: Approaching Intersectional Conversations” as a resource for folks looking to expand their conversations and have meaningful dialogues about race and identity. Check out the full guide below ⬇️🧡 https://lnkd.in/gXwuRxJR #Juneteenth #TrevorProject #LGBTQ #Solidarity #Intersectionality
