At #ESCCongress, Dr David Ferreira shares results from the SCOFF Trial, assessing fasting vs no fasting prior to cardiac catheterization🩺 Tell me more 🔗 https://ow.ly/G2H450TbWIo 👥716 pts randomized to either fasting or no fasting prior to surgery ❌ 🍎 No fasting was non-inferior and superior to fasting prior to cardiac catheterisation surgery for the primary composite outcome of hypotension, hyperglycaemia and aspiration pneumonia. 2️⃣ Secondary outcomes show significantly higher patient satisfaction scores in the no fasting group #Cardiology #SCOFFTrial #ESC24

New Case Report! “Repair of Dissecting Aortic Aneurysm in Post-LVAD Patient” by Sanjay Chaubey, PhD; Parag Kale, MD; Dan Meyer, MD, & Aldo Rafael, MD. Left ventricular assist devices are frequently used in the management of end-stage heart failure, especially given the limited availability of donor hearts. The latest HeartMate 3 LVAD delivers non-physiological continuous flow, although the impact on the aorta is not well established. We highlight a case of aortic aneurysm formation complicated by dissection formation that necessitated high-risk re-operative surgery in a patient post CF-LVAD. An important piece of evidence that must resonate through the heart-teams when deciding a strategy of non-elderly patients with aortic valve disease!! SAVR after TAVI is a risky surgery, with 10x higher mortality than primary SAVR! At least 3x higher mortality than TAVI ViV after surgery! Take home message? If You expect a second procedure in the lifelong patient management, surgery should be first!! And secondly, we will encounter post-TAVI patients mooore and moore. For the good, and for the bad...
5,457 Operations after TAVR 2,972 (54.5%) SAVR 2,485 (45.5%) non-SAVR STS Adult Cardiac Surgery Database 2012 to 2023 Stroke 4.5% Mortality 15.5% Marked increase in TAVR Explant and SAVR since Low Risk TAVR Approval🔥 SAVR after TAVR fastest growing adult cardiac operation🔥
