On PINK@WORK day, Open Cosmos wears pink to raise awareness for breast cancer, a disease that will affect 1 in 8 women in their lifetime. Early detection greatly increases the chances of successful treatment. Regular mammograms and monthly breast self-exams are key in spotting any unusual changes early. Encourage the people in your life to get screened and stay breast-aware by performing self-exams regularly. October is #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth, and it's an excellent reminder for you and your loved ones to get screened. Current screening guidelines include: Women ages 40 to 44 should have the choice to start annual breast cancer screening with mammograms (x-rays of the breast) if they wish to do so. Women aged 45 to 54 should get mammograms every year. Women 55 and older should switch to mammograms every two years or can continue yearly screening.
