Key performance indicators (KPIs) Key performance indicators (KPIs) are critical in both medical laboratories and the broader healthcare industry. Here's a breakdown of some common KPIs used in each area: Medical Laboratory KPIs: - Turnaround time for test results - Accuracy/error rates in testing - Specimen rejection/recollection rates - Test utilization and order appropriateness - Customer (physician/patient) satisfaction - Cost per test - Productivity metrics like specimens processed per FTE - Inventory management and supply chain efficiency - Regulatory compliance (e.g. accreditation, licensure) These KPIs help lab leaders monitor operational efficiency, quality control, and customer service within the lab itself. Healthcare KPIs (broader industry): - Patient outcomes (e.g. mortality rates, readmissions) - Patient experience and satisfaction - Quality of care metrics (e.g. adherence to clinical guidelines) - Operational efficiency (e.g. length of stay, patient flow) - Financial performance (e.g. cost per patient, revenue) - Employee engagement and retention - Population health management indicators - Care coordination and transitions of care Healthcare organizations use these types of KPIs to evaluate performance across the entire patient care continuum. They help identify areas for improvement, benchmark against industry standards, and succeed in value-based reimbursement models. The medical lab KPIs feed into the broader healthcare KPIs, as lab testing is a critical component of patient diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring. Effective use of KPIs in both the lab and healthcare settings is crucial for delivering high-quality, cost-effective care. #CAP #CBAHI #Healthcare #Laboratory #Medical #medicaldevices #innovation #diagnosis #health #clinicaldiagnostics #medlabmiddleeast #Device #arabhealth #Instrument #Specialist #Technician #Patient #Quality #Safety #Hematology #CBC #Biochemistry #spectrophotometer #Bioassay #Chemiluminescence #immunoassay #type #ELISA #Cobas #Vitros #Abbott #Siemens #IVD #Beckman #Roche #Sysmex #Danaher #Human #Diagnostic #Mindray #Snibe #Maglumi #Hiring #OpenToWork #job #work #HR #jobopportunity #opportunity

🍂 Is Autumn the Season of Colds or Shortages in the Life Sciences Industry? As with previous years, we are once again seeing increased shortages in the supply of #medications for #patients. These supply #disruptions are presenting hospitals with significant challenges: essential drugs for surgeries—such as irrigation solutions, injectables, anesthetics, and pain medications—are in increasingly short supply. This situation also poses a dilemma for patients, as it could lead to postponed or even canceled surgeries in the coming months. The Facts: 💊Over 1,500 medications are currently unavailable 👨👩👧👦 An estimated 1.5 million Germans are affected by shortages daily 📄 Every second prescription is impacted by the current supply gaps The root causes of these shortages are complex and multifaceted. It is critical for representatives from industry and politics to collaborate on long-term solutions to ensure this issue doesn’t repeat itself next fall. But what can companies do today to act upon this situation? Businesses can act now by implementing measures within their control to ensure continued patient care and strengthen their market position. Here are some strategic actions to consider: 📈 Product Portfolio Review & Diversification: Companies should assess their existing products and seek opportunities to diversify, reducing reliance on a narrow range of drugs 🚚 Supply Chain Strategy Evaluation: Ensuring robust supplier networks and securing alternative sources is crucial to mitigate the risks of supply chain disruptions 🎯 Value Chain Realignment: Make-or-buy decisions must be re-evaluated to enhance market positioning and resilience ⚖️ Integrated Demand-Capacity Planning: Companies should streamline sales and operations planning (S&OP) to ensure a smooth alignment between demand forecasts and capacity 💪 Operational Excellence (OPEX) & Digital Solutions: Investing in operational efficiencies through OPEX initiatives and digital technologies can boost productivity and ensure quicker responses to supply chain disruptions 👉 Conclusion 💡 Although the causes of drug shortages are numerous, companies can take meaningful steps to minimize the impact on patients and strengthen their competitiveness. Now is the time to act. #pharma #drugshortage #operations #strategy I am attaching links to some relevant sources from Handelsblatt in the notes.

My start up story is all about creating & developing offline & online supply chain management of the most affordable healthcare treatment of the generic medicines from 400 top indian pharma companies urgently required to the much needed 31% of rural populations of East india / Bihar suffering from either of two metabolic ,non communicable & irreverssible diseases called Hypertensions & Type2 diabetes ( as per the LANCET 30yrs of study from 1990 to 2020 across india). But paradox in India that healthcare treatment has become very expensive in the recent decades because of the trade name of the medicines prescribed by the doctors in rural & urban market of indian retail pharmacy business where their MRP are the most exorbitant rate varying from 450% to 1000% higher than the MRP of low cost generic medicines. Since india has become the pharmacy of world today in generic medicines because today india is fulfilling the 40% of global demand of low cost generic medicines in more than 200 foreign counties of US,Europe ,S.africa & Asia pacific. Not only that india is fulfilling the 50% of global demand of vaccines. But coming back to the problem statement of both diseases required life long & continuous treatment to prevent the progression of either of diseases into common co-morbidity of IHD ( heart disease ) causing 57% of sudden deaths of poor patients due to heart failure & CSI ( brain stroke) causing 24% of sudden deaths of poor patients leading to the reduction in the life expectancy of rural populations of east india / Bihar up to 63 of age only unlike the life expectancy of the urban populations up to 75 yrs of age. Hence my start up poised to create & develop offline & online supply chain management of the low cost generic medicines at door step of the house of each rural poor patients living in 45k villages across 38 districts of Bihar. My start up consists of 1) Offline & Online business activity. The FIRST offline activity is of the procurement of the low cost generic medicines from top 400 pharma companies are dully US FDA approved & GMP certified by European drug controller every year. But the toughest & costliest task & activity are to carry out rural market survey of each district to obtain the real no of only 10k rural poor patients from average rural populations of 15lakhs of each district will provide the real secondary demand of the low cost generic medicines for hypertension or type 2diabtes in each district will generate the revenue of 10k patients from one district X Rs.500.00 per month per patient's out of pocket expenditure is the one fourth cost to the trade name of medicines. Hence Total BV is expected of Rs.50lakhs from one district per month. Now 30 districts will generate Total BV of Rs.= 15crs in one month. In next 12months Total BV of 15crs x 12m=Rs.180crs. while I am targetting & focusing only 10% of Total retail pharmacy business of only two therapeutic products out of seven therapeutic products in Bihar.
