Former Director (2005 - 2020), Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala State [An Autonomous Institute of Government of India]

In the thrilling month of November 2008, the Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (RGCB) in Thiruvananthapuram set the stage for a groundbreaking international symposium on Human Papillomavirus-associated cancers, brilliantly titled "Translating Research into Cancer Prevention." The event attracted a dazzling array of luminaries in HPV biology, igniting a wave of innovation that would forever change the landscape of cancer prevention. From this prestigious gathering emerged RGCB's role as the laboratory host for the groundbreaking "two versus three dose vaccine" study, a pivotal research initiative that would take the world by storm. The state-of-the-art vaccine efficacy facility, bolstered by the support of the International Agency for Research Against Cancer (IARC), was inaugurated in 2009 by Dr. Christopher Wild, then Director of IARC. And thus, a remarkable journey began—one that would pave the way for revolutionary advancements in cancer prevention! The rest, as they say, is history!

Proud to have been part of this incredible journey! Grateful for the opportunity, Sir, to lead the serology and genotyping analysis for the “two versus three dose HPV vaccine” study—a role that helped me grow tremendously as a researcher and expand my skills in project and laboratory management, scientific/technical writing, scientific presentations, and even budget preparation. Being part of such a groundbreaking initiative at RGCB has truly been one of the highlights of my career. Thank you for the chance to contribute to research with a lasting impact on cancer prevention!
