Tacoma Venues & Events is responsible for sports and entertainment venues within the City of Tacoma (including the Tacoma Dome, Greater Tacoma Convention Center, historic theaters, and Cheney Stadium), and the Special Events program. The position of Tacoma Venues & Events Operations Manager is open now! This manager position is responsible for managing multiple facilities operations work units engaged in venue repairs/maintenance and the planning and execution of events. This role involves overseeing multiple elements of facility operations, including developing performance metrics, policies & procedures; procurement and budget monitoring, directing the operation and maintenance of complex venue systems; ensuring the safety and proper functioning of the facility for both the public and staff. I visited Acisure Arena in Palm Desert last night. First, it's a great venue. We were at a hockey game and didn't see the concert configuration. This is an excellent venue for the Coachella Valley. The venue is convenient from the 10 freeway. I suggest more signage from the freeway. I saw that the venue can be accessed from the East and West. More access and egress points from the main street would make sense, from Varner closer to Country Club and Acisure Arena Main lot road. There is construction, so this may be happening. There is more need for parking. This also opens up the venue for possible festival space. The parking lot is also covered in most areas. We parked in the VIP lot B, and there was easy access to the premiere access. Yet again, there needs to be actual signage leading to the entrance. The covered parking was solar, which is brilliant, providing cover and an energy source. With a venue like this in serious elements like extreme heat, wind-blown sand, heavy rains, and cold, exterior staff should have shelters. I would also like more venues with paths for guests leading to their entrances instead of walking where vehicles move. The entrance was quick and easy, and the staff was friendly and inviting. Entering the premium area, I quickly noticed the pipe and drape. I am a true believer that this area should be near flawless. It gave it a cheap vibe, especially at a new venue. The Chairman's Club was unique. Maybe not the best use of space, yet the restrooms and the transition to the seats were great. As a safety and security professional, I kept my eyes peeled on the security teams. I would like to see the prominent roam team(s). As a guest, it's nice to know security is readily available and they can assist guests when necessary. I can see a concern with contract security vice in-house security at this venue because of events like Coachella and Stagecoach. These events give a security vendor and guards a great deal more work over a 30-45 day timeframe with more hours per day. If the venue books during these events they can see staff shortages. The flow was easy, and the circular arena made it easy to get from one side of the venue to the other. The corner bars are tremendous and offer viewing while ordering and enjoying a beverage. There wasn't a bad seat in the venue. I am a fan of Acisure Arena. The vibe is there, and with some minor tweaks, this will be an award-winning venue year after year. #acisurearena #musicvenues #hockey #lmc #coachellavalley
