CCAMP has been at the forefront of promoting bio-entrepreneurship and catalysing technology development for a sustainable, greener planet. With the BioE3 Policy, we're excited to see the focus on key sectors such as high-value bio-based chemicals, biopolymers & enzymes; smart proteins & functional foods; precision biotherapeutics; climate resilient agriculture; carbon capture & its utilisation; marine and space research. Bio-RIDE scheme approved by Cabinet Indian Government is committed to achieving the vision of a $300 billion bioeconomy by 2030 and has been launching special policies for promoting Biotech entrepreneurship and Startup Ecosystem. After approving #BioE3 policy for Fostering High Performance Biomanufacturing, the Cabinet has approved #BioRIDE (Biotechnology Research Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development) scheme of Department of Biotechnology to promote bio-entrepreneurship and strengthen India’s position as a global leader in biomanufacturing. The initiative with a budget of Rs.9197 crore, aims to promote bioentrepreneurship, facilitate industry-academia collaboration ,encourage sustainable biomanufacturing, support researchers through extramural funding and develop human resources in Biotechnology sector by providing holistic training. A key feature of the Bio-RIDE scheme is its emphasis on creating synergies between academic institutions and industry to accelerate the commercialization of bio-based products and technologies. Biomanufacturing at scale is plagued with complex challenges and support from academia is needed to overcome technological roadblocks prevalent in industries. Facilitating Industry-Academia collaborations will bridge the vast gap between academic research and the industry needs. Proactive policies like #BioE3 and #BioRIDE provide institutional support for biomanufacturing businesses and contribute significantly towards realizing the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’.
