Understanding the SketchUp Eraser tool
- [Instructor] The Eraser tool is a great way to delete geometry, entities, and guide lines from your model. Activate the Eraser by clicking on this icon here or the keyboard shortcut letter e. To erase an edge, click and release on an edge here, or you can click and drag across it until it turns blue. You'll notice that once you erase an edge on this cube, the face also disappears because that edge was created using a coplanar loop of edges. And once we break that loop, the face disappears, like this back edge here. The cube on the right is part of a group, which is explained in another video. But in short, a group has a protective barrier around it that keeps the geometry together. So if I use my Eraser tool on that, on a group or a component, the entire group or component gets deleted or erased. It's important to note that an Eraser does not erase faces.
