Adding lights
- [Instructor] It's funny, but Navisworks has incredible lighting built into it. I know that a lot of other applications do this, but it's important to see that Navisworks can also do it. What I'd like to show you in this video is how to create those lights. So to do that, let's jump into Navisworks. Let's open up our Navisworks essential model. Now I'm going to pan around, and I'm going to go into one of these rooms, maybe this one. Get my feet under me, and I'm going to walk right into this room here. Come into this bathroom. Maybe take a look at this light right here. Now I want to add a light to this light. So on the home tab, let's click on "Autodesk rendering." Let's go to the lighting tab. Now I want to turn all these lights off, so just click on light name once and then click it again. It's going to turn 'em all off. I want to make a new one. So let's go ahead and click on "Light glyphs." Now, under "Create light", let's hit the drop down, and we'll use a point light. Notice that when we hover our cursor over the walls and stuff, it's going to kind of append itself to one of these objects. I'm going to come to about the middle point of that light right there and pick it. Now it's awfully bright, so here's what we can do. For the name, let's just call it bathroom light one. Perfect. The type is going to be point, filter color we'll keep the same. The lamp intensity- Boy, that's pretty hot. So let's click on the little builder button here, for the intensity let's say 100, then click "Okay." It's a little better. For the lamp color, let's click into here. Let's click on our browse button. Standard colors. And now I'm going to scroll up to halogen cool, I think. There we go. Click okay. Now gives it kind of a nice cool effect. Let's add another one. I'm going to come over to here. Now let's create light. Let's make it a spotlight. Now it's kind of a two pick method. So I'm going to pick a point here, and I'm going to spot down to about here. Ooh, don't worry about where it's landed. We can kind of move that around once we're done. I'm going to zoom out a little bit, but notice that we can select this little grip. If we click our select button, we can grab that little grip, and kind of move that spotlight around, right? We can move it towards us if we want. We can move it up. It's kind of neat. So the next thing I want to do is kind of come over here and just call it maybe bathroom light two. Hit enter. Now I think maybe the intensity's still a little too bright so I'm going to click on this button here for the intensity, we'll go back to a hundred. Hit enter in the lamp color. I'll turn it back to that halogen, standard colors. Same option, it says halogen cool. Hit okay, excellent. Hit escape a few times, or you can turn off light glyphs. Notice that we have sun and exposure on. So notice that when we scroll out of this room now, if we click our feet, those stay on, and now outside it looks a little different. Our sun's turned on. So I want to make another one. I want to aim a light from the ceiling fan, down to that table. Let's turn our light glyphs back on. Let's click "Create light." Let's click web. I'm going to pick a point on here, on the ceiling fan. I'm going to come right down, and I'm going to pick a point to that table right there. Woo, okay, (laughs) she's bright. Our lamp intensity, (laughs) going to definitely want to turn that down. Let's go to 200 this time though. Hit okay. Ooh, that looks nice. And of course I want to have my lamp color be consistent with the others. So we'll go halogen cool. Click okay, hit escape a couple times. Turn off your glyphs. Now the glyphs are turned off, now we can kind of walk around. Let you minimize this. Now we have a pretty nice lighting scene going on, so I'm really glad to be able to show you this 'cause it's an awesome tool that Navisworks has that most people don't know about.
