Educational institution verification with your associated email

Last updated: 3 months ago

An educational institution verification indicates that the member currently works or studies at the institution and has confirmed that association by using an email address containing a domain allowed by the institution.

Currently, the feature is only available to select educational institutions as LinkedIn continues to expand support for this feature.

Please keep in mind:

  • Your associated email must match your educational institution’s email domain. (Example: yourname@YourEducationalInstitutionName.com)
  • The educational institution must be listed in your profile under the experience or education section with a specified start date. For current students or those yet to graduate, the end date can be left empty or set to a future date. Please note that verifications cannot be applied retroactively (i.e., after you have graduated from or are no longer employed by the institution).
  • Once you verify, a verification badge will be displayed on your profile next to your name. Others who view your profile will be able to see the verification, but not the actual email address.
  • If you have issues verifying or displaying your educational institution verification, see our troubleshooting tips.

To verify your educational institution on Desktop, iOS, or Android:

  1. Visit your profile.
  2. Click Resources or the Resources icon or button on your LinkedIn profile, then About this profile, and then click Verify now to start the verification process.
  3. Enter the email for the educational institution you’re currently associated with and click Send code.
  4. Access your verification code in your associated email account. If you do not receive a code, click Resend code. Try our additional troubleshooting tips, if needed.
  5. Enter the code and click Confirm. Your associated email is now verified. (Note: The code will expire after 15 minutes of receipt.)

To remove the verification of your associated email on Desktop, iOS, or Android:

  1. Click here to go to your settings, or click on the Me tab at the top right of your screen on a desktop or on your profile picture on a mobile device.
  2. Click on Settings & Privacy on a desktop or Settings on a mobile device.
  3. Under Account preferences, click on Verifications.
  4. Click Delete and then Yes, Delete. Please note we can’t restore the verification once it’s deleted.
