Thank you to the many Tribal and community partners that made this celebration a success! Photo 2: Courtesy of Barona Cultural Center and Museum. Fourth graders at Barona Indian Charter School have fun learning at the annual Barona Cultural Center & Museum “Culture Class.” Using primary resources, students learn what life was like for Kumeyaay/Diegueño People before contact, during mission life, during the Mexican rancho era, and after statehood. Their group projects focus on change over time such as housing, clothing, food, and religion. Here the students show their representations of an ‘ewaa, a traditional Kumeyaay/Diegueño willow brush home. #NativeAmericanHeritageMonth #NAHM

As we pay tribute to their sacrifices, let us also acknowledge the invaluable contributions of cultural institutions in fostering understanding and appreciation for our military history.
