The first celebration of “Veterans Day” was held in Birmingham, AL, on November 11, 1947. It consisted of a parade and other festivities. Today on November 11th, we continue the tradition of honoring our nation’s veterans; commitment to service, courage, and bravery. We acknowledge their noble sacrifice to protect our freedoms. They are a living embodiment of strength and courage and a great inspiration to future generations. Veterans do not stop serving our nation when they return to civilian life. As volunteers, entrepreneurs, and scientists, Veterans continue to serve our country. For over 35 years, @SRI_Connection has supported our military, military spouses and our veterans through contracts, employment opportunities, service programs, fundraisers and donations. Today is #NationalDayOfTheDeployed, a day to honor and recognize the incredible bravery of those who serve far from home. American Gold Star Mothers began wearing the yellow star symbolizing the loss of a loved one during World War I. In 1936, Congress recognized Gold Star Mother’s Day to honor the mothers who have experienced this profound sacrifice. These women, along with fathers and families who have lost loved ones in service to our country, carry a legacy of strength and resilience that deserves our deepest respect and gratitude. At SRI, we acknowledge the immeasurable courage it takes to endure such a loss and continue forward. It is our honor to provide direct support to these families in support of the Military Funeral Honors and Survivor Outreach Services contract. Today, we honor and remember the families who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation. 23 years ago, our world was forever changed. We all remember where we were on that fateful day—9/11—a defining moment in American history. But it was not just a story of tragedy; it serves as a testament of heroism, courage, and unshakable strength. For those of us in the Washington, DC area, the impact hit close to home, and we encourage everyone to join us in a moment of silence at 9:37 a.m. to honor the 184 lives lost at the Pentagon. At @SRI_Connection, we hold deep respect for our employees who were at the Pentagon that day. They stayed behind to support vital communications infrastructure, embodying bravery and honor in the face of danger. 9/11 didn’t just alter history—it revealed the faces of true American patriots. First responders, military personnel, and ordinary citizens who risked everything to save others. Today, we stand united in remembrance and proudly declare, “We will never forget.”

Today, SRI proudly celebrates the 108th anniversary of the Marine Corps Reserves! Since its inception in 1916 with just 35 members, the Marine Corps Reserve has grown to nearly 40,000 strong. Marine Corps Reservists have been vital in every conflict since WWI. Today, we honor the brave men and women who stand ready as part of these reserve forces. Semper Fi!

On August 16, 1940, 48 men at Fort Bennington, Georgia, took the first parachute jump. Today marks the 84th anniversary of that momentous milestone. SRI honors and supports our soldiers of the sky who soar high to protect us on the ground.

Join us in celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Department of Defense (DoD). The guardians of our nation, the DoD has provided countless years of service, ensuring our security and peace. A part of the Executive Branch of government, they employ over 1 million active-duty service members, 800,000 members of the Guard and Reserve, and more than 700,000 civilian employees. @SRI_Connection’s 36+ year relationship with the #DoD has been one of immense respect, honor, and support. We have dedicated ourselves to working in partnership with the DoD by providing services that aid their operations and serve as mission enablers for our active and retired US military members, their spouses, veterans, and their families. On this #PurpleHeartDay, let's take a moment to honor the brave men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces who were wounded in combat or made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Established by George Washington on Aug. 7, 1782 as the Badge of Military Merit, the #PurpleHeart is the oldest military decoration still awarded in recognition of valor and merit in the battlefield. During the American Revolutionary War, the Badge for Military Merit decorated six known soldiers. Today, more than 1.8 million medals have been given to men and women who sacrificed for our nation. Today, we salute those who bear this emblem of bravery and commitment to our nation. Your sacrifices will never be forgotten.
