In 2022, the design-build team of HENSEL PHELPS #HMCArchitects and CO Architects was selected to lead the design and construction of a new Harbor-UCLA Medical Center Replacement Program. The project consolidates medical services into new facilities on the 72-acre campus. It ensures that Harbor-UCLA Medical Center complies with Senate Bill 1953, which takes effect in 2030 and requires all California hospitals to be structurally resilient in the event of a significant earthquake. The project consists of the new construction of a 545,000 SF acute care inpatient tower with 346 beds, a helicopter landing pad, and a warehouse; a 370,000 SF outpatient treatment and support building and 508,000 SF above-grade parking structure; a 23,000 SF facilities and IT support building, a 34,000 SF regional laboratory building, and a new 11,000 SF central plant. Just back from an unforgettable week at the SEGD Conference in Dallas! Our team at SQPEG knows that design has the power to connect people, and we lived it firsthand. We kicked off the week with a tour of The Fort Worth Stockyards, soaking up the Texas spirit and exploring designs that bring us together. Our Day 2 was all about the NEXPO exhibitors, learning from educational talks, and cheering on the amazing SEGD Award Winners! Day 3 was listening to the SEGD Fellow Awards and the panel from HKS, Inc., PAM, and Noble, Certified MBE to discuss Purposeful Wayfinding: Technology in Design, a fascinating topic on tech in Experiential Graphic Design. To wrap up the conference, we explored the inspiring AT&T Discovery District and that concluded an incredible design-packed week. Fernando Zamora has been a part of Square Peg Design for nearly 20 years. Fernando has been an integral part of most of our high-profile projects, and we are thrilled to have him take the front seat as our Creative Lead, guiding our entire design team. Keaton Kenel has been a part of our team for a decade, bringing daily positivity, dedication, and exceptional design solutions. She led our Dubai office for two years, delivering some of our best and most complex projects in the MENA region. We are excited to see Keaton take on the role of the Associate Director. Marlowe Fulgado has been with us for almost eight years leading some of our most complex projects' organization, planning, coordination, documentation, production, and project management with exceptional detail.
