Sitting for long periods? You’re not alone—it’s a part of modern life and often unavoidable.  But here’s the challenge: our sitting habits often create imbalances in the body that can affect our pregnancies and births. When the body isn’t balanced, discomfort can arise, and it can be harder for babies to get into an optimal position for a smooth descent through the pelvis and an easeful entrance into the world! That’s where Spinning Babies® Certified Parent Educators come in. In a group setting, you’ll not only learn body balancing techniques to restore comfort, but you’ll also gain confidence by connecting with others and discovering how to create the space your baby needs to find their best position for birth. With our three guiding principles of balance, gravity, and movement, we help you tap into your body’s innate wisdom for labor and birth. Your body knows what it’s doing—sometimes, it just needs a little support. Click the link below to find a Spinning Babies® Certified Parent Educator in your area.  https://lnkd.in/ezJWJBvi

Cervical dilation is often used to measure labor progress. If labor stalls, much of the focus is on how dilated the cervix is, but one essential question is usually overlooked: “Where’s the baby in the pelvis?” The baby’s job is to rotate and move through the levels of the pelvis during labor. If the baby can’t do this, labor won’t progress. Birth positions that open the pelvis at each level help the baby navigate through, shortening labor, and making the process more comfortable for the birthing parent. Spinning Babies® isn’t about spinning babies 😮 It’s a new paradigm for birth ease and labor progress.  Our approach focuses on the role the soft tissues of the body and fetal positioning can play in resolving stalled labor and making pregnancy more comfortable. Rather than increase the use of technology or medication to help birth progress, we work with your body to make your baby’s descent into the pelvis and rotation during birth easier.  Our self-care and specific body activities restore balance to your body and make room for your baby, allowing them to put themselves into the best position possible for birth. We offer unique pregnancy and birth preparation programs with labor activities that have been shown to make birth easier. Spinning Babies® can be used with other childbirth methods or none at all. Our approach works whether you’re giving birth at home, in a hospital or in a birthing center.

🤰Have you supported someone whose baby is in an oblique lie? This fetal position happens when your baby’s head is next to your hip and their body is diagonal instead of vertical.  To help your baby move into a better position for birth, try these techniques: ✴️ Forward-leaning inversion: This technique makes room in the lower uterus to help baby get into a better position. Here’s how to do it: - Kneel on the edge of a bed or couch - Move your hands to the edge of the bed or couch - Carefully lower your hands one at a time to the floor.  - Lower yourself to rest on your forearms.  - Let your head hang freely - Take 3 breaths - Come back up onto your hands and lift yourself until your hands are back on the edge of the couch.  ✴️ Side-lying release: This stretch helps temporarily enlarge and soften the pelvis, encouraging your baby to move head down. Here’s how to do it: - Lay on your side on the edge of a couch, bed or sturdy table, put a pillow under your head to make sure head and neck are straight and your shoulders and hips are stacked on top of each other. - Scoot up to the edge so your hip is 2 inches from it. - Slowly hang your top leg off the edge. It helps to have a helper to make sure your hip doesn’t lean forward when you lower your leg. - Hold this position for 2 to 3 minutes until the leg hangs slightly lower.  - Repeat on the other side ✴️ Dip the hip circles: These movements make room for baby to rotate in the pelvis. Here’s how to do them: - Bend at a 90 degree angle  - Keep your back flat - Make a figure 8 movement with your hips - Lift one hip and roll it forward while dropping the other hip as it rolls back - Drop the lower hip so it is 45 degrees lower than the higher hip - If you need extra help, someone can stand behind you and help guide the movement of your hips Read more about how to do a forward-leaning inversion here: https://lnkd.in/ge_J3MRD Read more about how to do a side-lying release here: https://lnkd.in/eGP5k5rq Read more about how to do dip the hip circles here: https://lnkd.in/e_hGU-5z #labortips #birthtips #prepareforbirth #birthprep #birthanatomy #physiologicalbirth #whereisbaby #empoweredbirth #spinningbabies
