Ever Wonder How Vehicles and Appliances Get Painted? One of my favorite specialties is working on electrocoat tanks. Electrocoat is the first layer of paint on vehicles, appliances, and many other products. It is applied by dipping the vehicle into an electrically charged paint bath. Those giant bath tanks need to have a thick liner so the paint doesn't stick to the tank. I worked on my first tank nearly 20 years ago and been fascinated by the process ever since. Check out our recent story on the process with some cool pics. When I interned with GM nearly 30 years ago, they were working on improving this system to keep cars from rusting when they were scratched. I had no idea I would end up working on tanks for Ford, Stellantis, GM, Durr, Rivian, and Tesla. https://lnkd.in/ekzDCYC5

This 66 acre industrial #VIPBYDRP Mill Street site in Ecorse, MI (Wayne County) is one to watch! Millions of dollars were poured into this former US Steel site to buy the property, improve road access, clear and assess the site. Another $1.5 million is slated to be deployed. The site is 3 miles from major interstate I-75, 7 miles to the new Gordie Howe Bridge, 10 miles from DTW International airport and population of 4.7M within 60 minutes. This is a prime example of a collaboration of private and public experts not only collaborating but investing in the site including the Detroit Regional Partnership's Verified Industrial Properties program to further ready it for development. Yesterday I spent the afternoon with Mill Street Ecorse Task Force strategizing how to leverage more funding to further ready for manufacturing requirements. The Task Force includes State Land Bank Authority, Michigan Economic Development Corporation, Detroit Regional Partnership, Downriver Community Conference - MI Works, Michigan Department of Treasury, Wayne County Land Bank, (4 civil engineering firms specializing in land development including SMEUSA, Giffels Webster, Anderson, Eckstein & Westrick, Inc. & The Mannik & Smith Group, Inc. and the City Of Ecorse. The site is currently undergoing physical site studies and once completed, the findings will be summarized and added to the due diligence report on the portal. More information on Mill Street site here: https://lnkd.in/gx9vu7Sp Thank you to DCC for hosting our group and providing lunch.
