Washington Elementary School celebrated Principal Appreciation Day last week by having one of their students be “Principal for a Day.” Principal Iolanna, a second grader at the school, joined Principal Corcoran to get a glimpse of what it takes to be a principal. Principal Iolanna had a very busy day visiting each classroom, supporting breakfast in the cafeteria, overseeing morning announcements, attending an administrative meeting, giving a building tour to two new staff members, supervising recess, and even sharing the news of a positive referral for a student with their parents. In addition, she made sure all the teacher names and labels were corrected on the doors around the school and even addressed a few squeaky hinges. Her big initiative was declaring that Washington would have an upcoming pajama day. #WeAreU46
