We’re excited to welcome Okeba Uganda Ltd into the RIF - Refugee Investment Facility’s portfolio. Operating in the refugee-hosting areas of Kyaka II and Rwamwanja, which are home to over 225,000 refugees and asylum seekers, Okeba is playing a pivotal role in transforming Uganda’s agricultural sector by empowering refugee and smallholder farmers to increase productivity and strengthen their livelihoods.
Since its establishment in 2017, Okeba has supported farmers—including 4,000+ refugees—with critical services like access to quality agricultural inputs, training, and financial literacy. In the second sseason of 2023, Okeba sourced from 8,000 farmers, of which 2,500 (31%) were refugees. By connecting farmers to essential resources, Okeba is addressing the challenges of land access and farming inputs in some of Uganda’s most vulnerable communities.
With RIF - Refugee Investment Facility’s support, Okeba aims to:
• Grow its customer base by an additional 3,500+ refugee smallholder farmers.
• Create 135 new employment opportunities.
• Offer training and skills development for 3,260 farmers.
We’re proud to contribute to Okeba’s mission of creating lasting, sustainable change for Uganda’s refugee and host communities. Stay tuned for more updates as this impactful journey unfolds!
