We are very excited to announce that the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU)'s National Security Innovation Capital has awarded #ParallelFlight an additional $2M of funding to continue advancement of our UAS capabilities. This contract continues support and backing for the operational testing of the #FireflyUAS, in advance of its targeted commercial deployment to the DoD and private sectors. Firefly recently demonstrated its capabilities to be deployed for #maritime littoral surveillance at TCE 24.2, held at Camp Pendleton. Under a contract with the Office of Naval Research Global (ONR Global), this collaboration brings together two advanced platforms to deliver a cost-effective, agile, and attritable solution for maritime surveillance. The #FireflyUAS, known for its versatility and operational efficiency, was paired with a mock version of Areté's PILLS system, a cutting edge low Size, Weight (42 lb), Power, and Cost (SWaP-C) LIDAR sensor—ideal for detailed hydrographic mapping of littoral zones. In advance of a maritime customer demonstration, the PFT flight team deployed Firefly for a mock mission off the coast of our HQ in La Selva Beach, CA. The drone autonomously traveled a total distance of 1.7 KM off the coast to fly in a rectangular pattern and back to its launch point. **Firefly enjoys flight patterns that send it off into the sunset ;) #drones #uav

Under Parallel Flight’s National Security Innovation Capital (NSIC) contract, the team recently demonstrated initial integration of #BVLOS (Beyond Visual Line of Sight) functionalities. By implementing a SATCOM link to #Firefly, the drone is able to operate autonomously from any point around the world. In this case, the Firefly UAS was located at the Parallel Flight Technologies HQ in La Selva Beach, CA and the Remote GCS Operator was located 150 miles away in Dunlap, California. With Pilot in Command (PIC) and a local safety team of Visual Observers (VO’s) on site at the drone location, Firefly was able to take flight via remote control. This BVLOS capability is essential for missions that require long distance flights (where the drone will essentially operate beyond visual line of sight). The integration of this capability extends the possibility of use for Firefly in applications across defense, logistics, public safety and more. NSIC is a Department of Defense organization that accelerates the development of dual use hardware technologies critical to our national security and economic competitiveness. We are pleased to officially announce our partnership with Areté. Under an Office of Naval Research contract, we will be collaborating to integrate #ParallelFlight's #FireflyUAS, with Arete's cutting edge Pushbroom Imaging LiDAR for Littoral Surveillance (PILLS) system. The combination of the two platforms will present a cost-effective expeditionary and attritable platform for #maritime operations. Last week, we welcomed the teams from Areté and Office of Naval Research to PFT HQ in La Selva Beach for #PILLS payload integration and flight tuning with Firefly.
