Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) is projected to cause 10 million deaths annually by 2050 and could cost the global economy up to $100 trillion if we don't act now. At the Milken Institute, we are recommending innovative funding and financing mechanisms, such as a blended capital fund and an antibiotic bond, to spur antibiotic development and reward successful innovations. Let’s join forces to safeguard global health and secure economic stability. Read our report here: https://lnkd.in/efqnMJZj #WAAW2024 #WAAW #AMR #InnovativeFinance #BlendedFinance

FasterCures is committed to identifying sustainable solutions that make clinical trials more accessible and community-focused. Last week at #MIHealthSummit, we released our latest issue brief, which explores approaches for democratizing clinical research and fostering more person-centered, inclusive trials. This issue brief highlights practical strategies to enhance efficiency, strengthen connections among research stakeholders, and better meet the needs of community partners. By addressing these systemic challenges, we aim to turn isolated pilot programs into a unified "ecosystem of excellence." Discover our findings and insights here: https://lnkd.in/e9JBbcUc

Watch "All Hands on Deck: Partnering for Prevention" from #MIHealthSummit here: https://lnkd.in/deDhArCi
Great to be back at Milken Institute in DC for their Furture of Health Summit, and to be on an esteemed panel on the importance of partnerships for prevention and population health. Health is, indeed, a team sport, and every team needs a gameplan, which the public sector is well positioned to outline, as the team at NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene did with #HealthyNYC. As ever, it will take public, private, nonprofit, and philanthropic sectors pulling in the same direction to achieve meaningful change. Great to share our experience in NYC as a model for the nation and beyond, and to hear many more examples from Andi Lipstein Fristedt from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Suzanne McCormick from YMCA of the USA, James Strenner at GSK, and @david batinelli from Northwell Health, with expert moderation from Nicholas Florko from The Atlantic. Working together will be more important than ever in this era, knowing that health is a product of collective, not just individual actions and choices. Thanks to Esther Krofah Sung Hee Choe Sabrina Spitaletta Johar and the entire Public Health at the Milken Institute team for bringing us together.

Thank you to the incredible and inspiring leaders, attendees and sponsors of our Milken Institute Future of Health Summit 2024. We hosted over 1,400 attendees and heard from more than 200 speakers across 50 sessions focused on the theme of, “Partnering for Better Health.” We discussed innovative partnerships, targeted research, best practices, and policy priorities emerging from the fields of biomedical innovation, public health, food, healthy aging, and strategic philanthropy. As I shared in my opening, no one stakeholder can do it alone. We must work together to achieve our shared goal of ensuring the best health outcomes for individuals and communities. In the wake of the U.S. elections at the federal, state, and local levels across the United States, the discussions were filled with shared values and core principles to focus on the individual, the patient and the community to help drive our systems toward better health. We acknowledged that the status quo is not working, and we must accelerate the shift of our health care systems toward prevention and early detection. We also celebrated the rapid pace of innovation in science, technology and medicines that can save lives--yet recognized that more people need better access to high quality health care. It was a pleasure to lead 1:1 conversations with FDA Commissioner Rob Califf, and current NIH Director Monica Bertagnolli. We were also pleased to hear from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Mandy Cohen and former NIH Directors Elias Zerhouni and Francis Collins. We were joined by leaders of CDC, CMS, HHS, NCI, USAID, USDA, the WHO Foundation, non-profits, the private sector and more. Thank you to Adaeze Enekwechi Elizabeth Arndorfer Yele Aluko MD, MBA, FACC, FSCAI. Carolee Lee Deborah Lafer Scher Caitlin MacLean for a energized and insightful roundtable discussion on building a collaborative network to advance women’s health. Thank you to Janice Chang Morgan Hanger Julie Gerberding Susan Winckler and Dr. Freda Lewis-Hall in sharing a path forward for continuing momentum in and transforming the future of clinical trials and Sir Martin Landray of Protas for his ongoing global leadership in keeping us focused on how to generate the right evidence in clinical trials as efficiently as possible to have the most impact on patient lives. The theme that resonated for me throughout was the focus that we cannot maintain status quo. We must shift towards prevention. I was pleased to elevate our Milken Institute Health work on Project Prevent which we launched this year and thank you to James Strenner who in addition to speaking at the Summit, co-hosted a dinner discussion with Ambassador James Roscoe, MVO on how we can reimagine prevention. I encourage you to view all Future of Health public panel recordings at https://lnkd.in/eRkvb9fv #MIHealthSummit
