This week, I’m in London and Brussels with Jennifer Han and Rob Hailey. We’re meeting with MFA members and also discussing with policymakers how alternatives drive economic growth and innovation across the EU and UK. Alternative asset managers enhance the functioning of private and public markets and provide the capital businesses of all sizes need to hire, innovate, and succeed. MFA will continue advocating for targeted regulatory reforms that further unlock the economic potential both in the UK and EU by strengthening markets and increasing market participation.

Hello from Fort Worth! This morning I attended our oral arguments for MFA’s lawsuit against the SEC on the dealer definition. We were represented by Gene Scalia and the fabulous team at Gibson Dunn. We argued for the rule to be vacated as the SEC violated statutory authority, and was arbitrary and capricious in its rulemaking. The crypto trades in a parallel suit at today’s argument concurred. We feel confident that a decision will be reached in December and incredulous that the SEC is of the view that it needed to provide an exemption to the Federal Reserve in its rule - otherwise, the Fed could be a Dealer.

MFA submitted a supplemental comment letter to the SEC calling for major revisions to FICC's proposed Treasury clearing rules. The letter stresses that the proposal will harm capital markets, hinder U.S. economic competitiveness, and increase the cost of government borrowing.   Read more: https://lnkd.in/epk3ERjH
