After years of planning and one year of construction, we are thrilled to announce the Grand Opening of the James A. Buzzard River Education Center in Richmond! Located along Richmond’s historic riverfront next to Great Shiplock Park and Dock Street Park, our center promises to be a hub for environmental education in our 'River City'. Today, our grand opening event featured a ribbon cutting ceremony, facility tours, and inspiring speeches from distinguished officials including Senator Tim Kaine, Mayor Levar Stoney, Delegate Rae Cousins, Councilmember Cynthia Newbille, and Secretary of Natural and Historic Resources Travis Voyles. “The opening of the James A. Buzzard River Education Center is the realization of a years-long dream,” said Shawn Ralston, Vice President of Programs for JRA. The center features state-of-the-art facilities like a ‘riverquarium’ and interactive technologies designed to enrich the learning experience of students across Greater Richmond.
