This weekend we celebrated the best of the best in the amusement park industry at the 2024 Amusement Today Golden Ticket Awards! It was an honor hosting the event right here in the ‘Burgh at Kennywood and Sandcastle. We’d like to congratulate all the winners, including our very own Dutch Wonderland for taking home the Golden Ticket for Best Family Park and NEW Golden Ticket Legend, and Palace Entertainment CEO, John Reilly for his career achievements. Thank you to everyone who attended and made this year’s Golden Ticket Awards unforgettable! And THANK YOU to our incredible teams at Kennywood and Sandcastle for all their hard work and hospitality!

This past weekend, members of our leadership team attended CoasterBash XXXV, hosted by the American Coaster Enthusiasts Western PA region. This annual late-winter event features presenters from amusement parks, industry experts and enthusiasts on what’s new and exciting for the upcoming summer. Our team shared some of what to expect at Kennywood, Sandcastle Waterpark and Idlewild & SoakZone in 2024. At Kennywood, this includes Potato Patch bumper cars, the Turtle’s refurbishment, the return of the Aero 360 and other surprises yet to be revealed! At Idlewild, exciting enhancements to Story Book Forest await visitors – as well as more improvements at the better, brighter, fresher than ever Sandcastle! We thank ACE members for their continued support of our parks and look forward to hosting ACE Western PA for their annual summertime Kennywood day, KennyKon, this August. #networkandconnect #conference

The winter months are as busy a time as any for our team of maintenance technicians, electricians and carpenters! Every year, all of our rides are taken apart for a complete inspection. Other highlights seen here include a new Jack Rabbit car built in-house, a re-tracked section of the Thunderbolt, and our big Turtle refurbishment project! Our behind-the-scenes experts give the park and its rides the necessary care to keep our world-class collection in top shape. 53 days and counting until we welcome our first guests of Season 126 onto the rides!

Special thanks to West Mifflin Area School District and Principal Licht for hosting us at this morning’s job fair! Students had the opportunity to ask questions about working at Kennywood and Sandcastle Waterpark with the ability to jump start their application. We’re proud to partner with surrounding communities to offer hundreds of summer jobs annually to students from West Mifflin, Steel Valley and other surrounding areas.
