On this Veterans Day, we honor and remember those who have served our country and recognize the challenges some continue to face long after their service. For many veterans, the battles do not end with the return home. In the nation’s capital, House of Ruth is here to support those like Shelly, a veteran who served her country for over a decade. Shelly’s journey didn’t stop at the hardships of military life; she faced the compounded struggles of PTSD, domestic violence, and houselessness. Her path to healing and independence began at House of Ruth’s Madison Program, where transitional housing provides a safe haven for single women experiencing houselessness. Here, Shelly found not only a roof over her head but also the resources and support to rebuild her life. Read Shelly’s full story on our blog and see how your support makes a difference in the lives of veterans who need it most. #VeteransDay
