GSF is hiring a grant-funded, Part-Time Limited-Term Production Farmer to support our food growing efforts at two of our school garden sites, 24th St. Elementary and Wilshire Crest Elementary. The Production Farmer will work with GSF staff at each site to help fulfill the goals of our food production grant, grow fresh produce to share with the school community, help identify weekly and monthly tasks for GSF employees and volunteers, work with volunteers at Community Garden Days at both sites, record data needed for grant reporting, harvest and redistribute produce to community members.  For the full job description, please reach out to us at join-us@gardenschoolfoundation.org

  • Today we’re launching our 2024 Annual Appeal!! In our 19 years of providing garden-based education to youth across L.A., we’ve discovered the incredible, untapped potential of school gardens as sites of change. As we enter an unprecedented precarious climate for nonprofit funding and support for environmental programming like ours, we need your support today more than ever. In our 19 years of providing garden-based education to youth across L.A., we’ve discovered the incredible, untapped potential of school gardens as sites of change. From food waste prevention to hands-on STEM training, we’re harnessing the full transformative power of school gardens to provide historically underserved communities with local food relief through free, on-campus Farmers Markets and hands-on garden, nutrition, and sustainability education through our holistic Seed to Table program. In the garden, all kids can shine, from helping smash leftover fruit for compost to being a brave taster in cooking class! Together, we can safeguard the values that matters most to us and ensure our gardens continue to thrive as sites of education, food production, and community for years to come. We’re counting on you!
