Yesterday, our Food Bank met with colleagues at Feeding America and Feeding the Carolinas regarding the extensive damage caused by Hurricane #Helene in North and South Carolina. We learned some initial ways we can support our sister food banks and have dispatched assistance to those we can reach – with plans to do even more when roads reopen. So far we've been able to provide water to our friends Harvest Hope Food Bank in Columbia and have plans to produce 10,000 frozen meals in our Wilmington commercial kitchen this week to contribute to the disaster response. For more information about how we're helping and how you can get involved with relief efforts through our Food Bank, please visit foodbankcenc.org/helene #noonegoeshungry #carolinastrong

👏 👏 A big THANK YOU to Harris Teeter. Yesterday, employees of the grocery chain spent their day at the Food Bank assembling 2,000 Thanksgiving meal kits for families facing #hunger. Each meal bag includes everything a family of four needs for a delicious holiday meal, including turkey breast, stuffing, yams, mashed potatoes, gravy, and more. The meals are part of Harris Teeter's annual Harvest Feast programs.👏 👏 The Food Bank will distribute the Thanksgiving meals on behalf of Harris Teeter to our friends and neighbors facing food insecurity in Central & Eastern North Carolina. #NoOneGoesHungry

Twice a year, our staff gather to celebrate our accomplishments and enjoy time together. With our minds and hearts on Western North Carolina, we decided to use our fall staff day to complete service projects at our Greenville, Raleigh, and Wilmington Branches. Together we sorted thousands of pounds of hygiene items donated by the community to send out west. We also bagged produce, built boxes for our Senior Nutrition Programs, and wrote cards of thanks to our partners in hunger relief who are serving those impacted by Hurricane Helene. It was a wonderful day of service and fellowship for our staff! #HeleneSupport #noonegoeshungry #helene #hurricanehelene
